Never Put Water In Your Car As Gas - Imagine If You Could Though? Hmm, Water - 4 - Gas-Nice!

By Norb Czufis
Not sure if you remember the fuss about solar powered cars, and solar powered *fill in the blank_______*, but then we would have what is know as free or alternate energy - and you just CAN'T monetize that!

For centuries now, we've polluted our own planet with emmissions, with gases, with oil that burns day in day out, and we are now at peak oil! Do you know what that means? WE ARE RUNNING OUT OF NATURAL RESOURCES! They say that most of the US is pretty much dried up (literally), hence the heavy interest in rich land (again - literally) that gets sought out by governments in OH SO MANY creative and evil ways... If that wasn't bad enough though - when the idea of a water+ gas alternative to fuel hybrid was brought to light - IT GOT SHUNNED pretty quick!

Why would the governments want YOU to save your money? Save 40%-60% on your annual gas prices/spend, increase mileage on your car by double or triple - again - why bother you can't monetize as much! Can you believe that?! Our own 'powers that be' have actually taken more interest in corporations and bottom lines than the purity and longevity of mother earth! Nothing new though right? Would you believe me if I told you that there are actually many patents based around this technology? And that finally, the powers that be are being 'forced' to listen and take action soon?

Not only should you believe me - but it's actually happening RIGHT NOW all over the world! People just like you and me are taking the matter in-house, and starting to convert their cars to run on water from home and from the knowledge/power of the internet.

"Converting a car to run on water" that has been put through an electrolysis system is OH SO REAL! Perhaps it use to be far fetched, until alternate sources of media started to open our eyes, until the few patent holders were brave enough to show and tell their inventions, and today - there are a handfull of full time conversion kings that show you first hand and help you convert your car with you! According to the author and thousands of converted stories.

"Everyone wants to do something about the high gas prices, and the morals behind it, as well as help save our planet with more efficient energy use - we want to be pioneers in that sector - in fact we are, however the auto manufacturers still laugh at our ideas... My feeling? Not for long - soon we will have absolutely no choice but to create more economically friendly and viable energy sources, as we are at peak demand and still skyrocketing daily while our natural resources are drained"... This goes much farther beyond world population reduction and control - however that's what it comes down to if we use up all our resources (currently 90% or more GONE).

Having said all that though - it's not a laughing matter or one to be toy'd with - do your research and at least check out more than ONE system if you are planning on taking this idea to the next step. You can actually get ALL the necessary conversion tools and elements from your local hardware store. You can also get ready made kits out there but those are a)expensive b)hard to install c)come with little to no support. So instead, your best bet is to read a few reviews on the water4gas and 'run your car on water' products. These are the two that stick out in the industry, and for good reason - customer support baby! You actually have someone you can call, ask questions, get help going through the conversion process step by step.

* It doesn't damage your engine or vehicle

* It's 100% safe and does not need or use any harmful chemicals or substances

* Works with ANY car, suv, motorbike, even boats/trailers!

* There is a diesel 4 gas conversion as well

* It actually saves you 40%-60% of your gas money year round

* Get at least a 40% increase in your gas mileage

* Practical conversion and electrolysis system - step-by-step and realistic install guides.

* The best one: Finally tell those corporations where to go stuff it!

If everyone in the world stopped consuming gas for 2-4 weeks, one corporation at a time, we would cause some serious damage, but instead - we opt to stay silent, and can't imagine life 'without gas'... without a car, without pumping every 300-400km and spending ludacris amounts of money - for what? To make THEM more money... The point is, if we all started converting our cars, the demand and patents would get more attention, and the manufacturers would REALLY have no choice but to meet the demand of the markets - don't forget WE predict that demand - they just influence us. So be different today - give it a good thought - If you really could convert your car to run on water as fuel, for less than a your average tune-up - would you?

Not only will you see a great video of how this technology works first hand, but here you are given the TOP two providers of energy efficient water to gas conversion systems - these BOTH get a full 5 star rating in my books - take a peak: http://www.watergasforcars.com

HHO Will Help You Save Money on Gas

By Phillip Gwinn
Let's get right to the point. Gas is outrageously priced and killing the average consumer. We are not efficiently set up for mass public transportation. The automobile is the icon of American life. Electric cars are ugly, slow, don't have the range for a proper road trip, and are expensive. So what are we supposed to do?

The answer is to modify your existing car to run on a combination of water and gasoline. We are not talking about science fiction either. We are talking about spending approximately two hundred dollars and about twenty hours of your own time in a garage. We are talking about getting up to double your current gas mileage. Within a month you should have saved enough money to have recouped your investment. After that? It's like a tax free pay raise.

Here is what has to happen. We will place a container in the engine bay and fill it with water. Some systems require using a bit of baking soda and some don't. This water will be "wired" to the cars electrical system so that you can separate the components. Electrolysis is the process that will bring the HHO, Browns Gas, out of the water. This gas will be metered into the fuel system to augment the gasoline.

HHO burns more efficiently than gasoline. And, the HHO exhaust is water. Currently, none of the big automakers wish to pursue the technology. Instead they are banking on electrics, and dual fuel (ethanol) hybrids. IOW they are trying to move away from gasoline altogether. That is great for the long haul. But right now we are feeling the pain right up close and personal at the gas pumps.

The time to move on this technology is today, because gas prices are only going up.

In a Gas/Water Hybrid Car, the next benefit is that the car will run cooler and reduce wear and tear on the engine. Since you will be using less gas, you will also lower your emissions.

As I said, the truth is that fuel prices have a strangle hold on every person in this country. There is an off-the-shelf technology that will break the hold.

I am Phillip Gwinn, learning and making practical applications of what I learn is one of my passions in life. By never letting the world pass you by, you cannot truly grow old.

Pros and Cons of Owning a Hybrid Car

By Thomas Jones
You hear every day about hybrid cars from their proponents. But have you ever heard about it from the other side? Only if you are seeking information on the pros and cons of owning a hybrid car, will you become aware that there are cons too that many manufactures don't want you to know about. Here is the list of the top 8 pros and cons of owning a hybrid car that will help you to better understand what your really getting yourself into when you purchase a hybrid car:

Pro: Better gas mileage - Hybrid vehicles will take you twice as far as the conventional vehicle for every gallon of fuel. With gas prices escalating this should sway the buyer towards the hybrid car just to save money on their gasoline purchases.

Con: The mileage, in reality, is 10% less than what the tag claims. This can come as a setback to owners with financial constraints. Claims on the tag apart, the fact is that hybrid cars are only 25 to 30 percent more efficient than the new gas-saving vehicles on the market which may opt to be a better choice in the long run.

Pro: You'll save a lot more money in the long run- If you own a hybrid you'll save approximately $2,300 over a ten year period which is really nothing to sneeze at when it comes to saving money.

Con: The cost of hybrid cars ranges from $19,000 to $25,000 compared to conventional fuel-efficient vehicles that cost anywhere between $14,000 to $17,000. Hybrid cars don't pay for themselves although many manufactures would like you to think they will.

Pro: Hybrids are more fuel-efficient and better for the environment- Hybrids are built specifically to be environment friendly. They reduce the amount of gas you need by utilizing instead. Hybrids cut the amount of emissions from your car by 25% to 30%.

Con: If you're a jump-start driver and you speed all the time, your eco-friendly hybrid vehicle will not live up to its name. Speeding and starting too quickly from a light is a waste of gasoline in any car, even a hybrid. A hybrid uses gasoline products and a bad driver can cause harm to the environment so it really depends on what kind of driver you are when it comes to being more fuel-efficient and better for the enviroment.

Pro: Regular maintenance and repairs are just like getting a conventional car fixed- Hybrids are just hybrids. They have many of the same parts as conventional vehicles that can be serviced by any qualified mechanic.

Con: Regular maintenance and repairs are no problem, but hybrids have their own unique problems - a complex system requiring two motors, ancillary systems, computers, a heavy battery and a generator that must all work together. The complexity and newness of hybrids will surely see owners paying bigger repair/service bills besides spending more time sitting around the repair shop.

Learn everything you can about a vehicle before purchasing it and spare yourself from some nasty surprises.

Chevrolet Hybrids

By Thomas Jones
The name Chevrolet certainly isn't foreign to the American population. After all, who hasn't heard the definition of a classic car being a "57 Chevy?" In looking at Chevrolet, though, classic cars and pick-ups come to mind, and not necessarily hybrid cars. Don't write Chevrolet off yet, though, but actually go take a look at Chevrolet. The sedan and truck known from Chevy are getting a remix, in the form of the more technological and eco-friendly hybrid.

2005 brought changes to Chevrolet's line-up, introducing the Equinox Hybrid vehicle, which, fascinatingly enough, was a hybrid SUV, one of the first in in the market, but not nearly as widely known. The Chevrolet Tahoe was right before the Equinox, and recent developments with Chevrolet have made the Equinox unavailable for pricing, so it seems that this new, unique take on one of the more gas-guzzling vehicles in the mass market has not seen the light of day in some time, and no information has been given on whether or not the vehicle will return. Even if there are major changes, the original Equinox was going to use a similar hybrid system that the Chevy Tahoe had, as well has having a major boost in fuel-efficiency from its typical gas-powered mate.

Putting the Equinox aside, Chevrolet offers both sides of the hybrid argument, the disappointingly less than fuel-efficient Chevy Tahoe Hybrid and the more affordable and much more fuel-efficient Chevy Malibu. In comparison to the Tahoe's 20 miles to the gallon, the Malibu can boast over 30 miles per gallon, making the Malibu a vehicle to consider when window-shopping for hybrids.

Coming soon from Chevrolet will be the Silverado Hybrid, which is going to be the first pick-up truck hybrid (I don't know about you, but I think that just sounds really cool). Originally slated for 2004, it has taken some time for this long-awaited innovation to arrive on the market, but considering the bad reception of the Tahoe and the competitive edge that Chevrolet wanted on the sedan front of the hybrid movement which prompted the Malibu, the Silverado is now finally going to be available with technology that should make things more accessible.

The Silverado should be available in limited supply in the fall of 2008, but will make its mass market debut in 2009 so they will be more available for every buyer. While still a good six months away from its premiere, this is definitely a vehicle to keep an eye on. A hybrid pick-up truck: Talk about completely changing around the stigma on trucks as gas guzzlers and turning them into more fuel-efficient vehicles that will be great for the whole environment.

As for other items on Chevrolet's market, the Concept Camaro has been rumored to possibly be a hybrid. Granted, there's nothing official yet, but, considering the major changes that would need to be made in order to make this classic staple a hybrid, there should definitely be more information on this particular item later

Luxury Hybrids

By Thomas Jones
Do you know what luxury hybrid vehicles are available on the market today? Do you get confused when you see advertisements on the television for the many different makes and models? You're not the only one. Hybrid vehicles are becoming more and more popular in today's driving world and the choices are growing each and every day. This handy guide will give you - hopefully - a clearer look at the variety of hybrid vehicles that are available for consumer purchase.

BMW

The racing market has been cornered by BMW and its HR2 hybrid. They also have a line of consumer hybrid vehicles which include the BMW C-1 scooter, BMW X6 hybrid, BMW SUV hybrids, and the BMW X3 hybrid.

Lexus

Luxury vehicle manufacturer Lexus offers consumers two hybrids in the sedan style: the GS and the LD. The RX is their SUV hybrid. The LS sedan is one of Lexus' top line models with a hefty price tag of$104,000.00 MSRP. The GS comes in at $54,900.00 MSRP, and the RX SUV starts at $41,280.00 MSRP.

Mercury

Mercury is the working classes luxury automobile and their Mariner SUV hybrid is a four-wheel drive starting at $28,945.00. The full wheel drive model is $27,195.00. Mercury's prices for their hybrids are staying to close to the MSRP for their conventional models even though most hybrids go for an average of $10,000.00 more.

Porsche

Deep pockets drive Porsches in the first place and they are getting into the hybrid market with the introduction of the Porsche Cayenne SUV sometime in the 2008-2009 automobile season. Considering a fully loaded Porsche SUV sits around $93,700.00, plan on bringing your bank book. This will probably not be the only hybrid Porsche will develop. Many people will be interested in the sedan line the company offers and that will probably be the next offering after the Cayenne.

Mercedes

While they still don't have a consumer hybrid on their dealership lots yet, Mercedes is planning on bringing one out in 2009. One of the S-Class cars, this hybrid will not be cheap. Estimates are already placing cost between $127,000.00 an $195,000.00. Hybrids tend to be more expensive overall so don't be surprised if it goes over that $195,000.00. If it goes well, Mercedes will bring out more by 2010.

Just because you don't see your favorite car line on this list, that doesn't mean they do not have a hybrid available. Toyota and Ford both have models on the lots and there is rumor circling that Volkswagen will begin producing them as well. As a matter of fact, it will probably just be a matter of time before most major automobile manufacturers have a hybrid in their 'stable' of vehicles.

Also, car manufacturers are constantly adding to the product line and rolling out new models every year. If you have a little bit of patience, you will be able to find the perfect hybrid for you. It doesn't matter if it is an SUV or car - maybe even a truck - hybrids are the way of the future and there will more on the road as the years go by.

Hybrids vs The Internal-Combustion Engine - Cost & Benefits

By Thomas Jones
Initially, hybrid cars were released with a hefty price tag attached to them, which made it much more difficult for consumers to even consider going eco-friendly. Top that off with a three-year waiting list in order to even get close to one and hybrids were originally an unattainable "nice idea" for many. Thankfully, the production has become a little more frequent, the vehicles are more mainstream now and with that has come a more affordable price. Because of this, consumers are now able to consider purchasing a hybrid, but it's time to take a look at what exactly are the benefits and costs for buying a hybrid over a regular car:

1. Cash on Hand - The upfront cost of a hybrid, while substantially less than it had been before, it still isn't nearly on the same par as conventional cars. In fact, the initial cost you are looking at is still upwards of $3000 to $6000 more than the older cars.

2. The Pretty Bells and Whistles - While they may be completely awesome, such as the Prius's voice recognition system, the add-ons and optional features may not be so optional. Make sure you know what extra wing-dings you buy are going to be worth.

3. Less Pay At the Pump - This is going to be the biggest change you see right out of your pocket. Hybrids depend completely on two different energy sources in order to power the car, so when it comes time to fill up the gas-powered half of your vehicle, it'll be only half as often. Your gas expenses will most likely be cut down in half from buying a hybrid.

4. I Can Fix It - As long as the repairs you need aren't because of your battery pack, it's going to be the same as paying for a gas-powered car to get maintenance.
But, if you do have a battery problem, it's a major expense, and typically, your warranty no longer covers the battery by the time it fails, so you can expect up to $4000 in repairs or more.

5. Super-Green - If you're really focused on being good to the environment, then getting a hybrid is something that you will feel completely justified in purchasing. Hybrids have minimal emissions, extremely fuel-efficient and eco-friendly. But, you will have to take the extra consideration to improve your driving skills, because if you're using a SUV hybrid or drive fairly destructively, the benefits of your eco-friendly car will disappear and turn into disastrous. On top of that, the actual trademark of the hybrid is its eco-friendliness, but the fact of the matter is that many conventional cars are now able to reduce their own emissions, taking some of the hybrid's thunder away.

6. We Lack The Capacity, Cap'n! - You may want your hybrid to blaze at the speed of light, but, it simply isn't possible. In fact, trying to get your compact hybrid to actually compete with the acceleration factors of conventional cars is going to be incredibly hard to get. The larger cars, like SUVs and sedans, can go faster than actual gas-powered cars, but not always.

7. Itty Bitty Living Space - It would be a nice thing to have a hybrid car that is huge and massive, very Arnold-esque, but it's just not all that common. You just can't depend on a hybrid to be the same size as the conventional counterpart, because most of the time they are smaller. More often than not, you probably won't be able to get the same amount of people or stuff into your hybrid sedan that you got in your old conventional one.

8. Mo' Money, Very Nice - Another fantastic advantage is that by buying eco-friendly products these days, state governments may offer free parking at the meters, as well as being able to travel in the HOV lanes during rush hour. On top of that, eco-friendly vehicles are considered to fall under the tax credits given to those who buy green appliances.

There are so many different benefits and costs to owning a hybrid over gas-powered cars, but the biggest thing to remember is that hybrids are not the mainstream yet.

Buying A Nearly New Car

By Jeff Hendrix
US car makers often times sell very high numbers of cars to rental agencies with the plan that after a period of time or a certain number of miles, these cars will be bought back. These cars are known as program cars and after they are bought back they will be reconditioned by the manufacturer and sold to dealerships. The dealerships then either sell them or often times offer them as part of a used car lease deal. If you want a dealer to know you mean business and know what your doing, ask them about program cars.

The advantage of these cars is that they have low mileage and have been well maintained by the rental agency. After they have been returned they have been refurbished again by the manufacturer. Often times these cars will even still have some of their factory guarantee left on them.

The risks of these cars is that they have been driven by a lot of drivers who probably drove them pretty hard and were not to concerned about the treatment of the car. They will not have a previous owner who knows about the strange quirks and problems the car has. Also keep in mind though that each one of these cars has to pass a rigorous inspection by the manufacturer before you can buy it.

Another option to consider for nearly new cars is a factory demonstrator car also known as an executive car. Many factories offer great purchase deals to the factory employees who often times sell their car at the end of each model year and purchase the new one. These cars are almost always low mileage cars in great condition and even still under factory warranty. To find some of these for sale in your area you will want to call around to the home offices for specific models in your area and ask about the executive or company cars available.

The final option for nearly new cars is to look into rental cars that are being sold of by the agencies at their lots and at special locations. They offer mainly the same pros and cons as a program car. The biggest difference is that rental agencies often do not include any negotiation room on the price, but rather just charge a flat take it or leave it price. These prices are often awesome deals but you need to find the right ones. It is still highly highly recommended for even these cars that you bring in an independent mechanic to inspect the car and make sure you are getting a good deal on it.

Buying A Used Car From Independent Dealerships

By Jeff Hendrix
There are a lot of used car dealerships in every area of the country. Some are the ones that have earned used car dealers the bad reputation they have, some are great places to shop that will give you a great deal. The only real way to tell the difference between the two is to ask around. Ask your friends and family, anyone you know if they have any experience with the dealerships.

The major risk in buying from these used car dealerships is that they are not associated with any new car franchises and often times are only able to pick up the leftovers of what is left from the other places. They end up with taxis, fleet cars and cars that were bought at the used auto auctions. Their primary concern when you walk onto the lot is to sell you a car today. They are not trying to build a brand with repeat business. They will probably not have repair facilities for you if the car brakes and are not really too worried about long term customer satisfaction.

The biggest advantage of dealing with a independent dealership is that you can get great deals. They most often to not have a lot of capital like the new car dealerships and not a lot of overhead, so they can afford to have smaller returns on investments. That means they would rather accept a low deal than to let your money walk away from them. If you can show them that you can write a check that day to pay for the car you have a lot of bargaining power at a used car lot.

Most used car dealerships offer some form of warranty to you, normally through a third party independent offer. These warranties often time require you to pay for any repairs up front then submit a claim. Then they often times just announce they don't cover it and your stuck with the bill. For most of the warranties, they are completely worthless. The positives of this means that you can bring all of these negatives up when you ask for a discount.

As with any aspect of used car purchasing, please please please remember to get it check by an independent professional mechanic. These people know what they are doing and can save you a ton of pain.

Buying A Used Car From Ebay Or Classified Ads

By Jeff Hendrix
Most people who sell their cars themselves decide to do so because they want to get more money for it than the wholesale price offered by dealers for the car. The rationale for them is that the time and effort it will take to sell the car is well worth the extra money earned.

This does not mean however that a private seller can charge the same amount for the car that a dealer can. The reason for this is that a private seller has no way to offer a warranty on the car unless the manufacturers warranty is still left. Private owners also have no overheads like dealers do like paying for facilities and sales people. Because of these two things a private seller should charge less for the same car than a dealership does. This is all relative however because no two cars are the exact same and thus the prices charged for them cannot be the same. If you find a private party that is charging a lot more than what you would pay at a dealership for the same car, either the seller likely has an overestimated the cars worth, or it is a very rare, well kept car.

Curbing is a practice to be aware of. Curbing is when sales people from the dealerships take cars home and sell them as if they were private sellers to make some extra money. There is nothing wrong with that, but the problem lies in that the cars they end up selling are 95% of the time the cars that the dealership could not sell otherwise. If you run into a seller who does not have the title in their name, it is likely that they are curbing the car and you should walk away.

Other than the lower cost, by buying from the original owner you also get the tremendous advantage of their complete knowledge of the cars history. They will know exactly what repairs have been done, problems and good sides of the car. If you do buy from a person like this I still recommend getting the car inspected. People lie and on a purchase as big as a car you will want to make sure you are getting a good deal.

Official Guide On How To Change Your Car To Run On Water

By Jared Price
It's every car owners dream that gas prices would go down... but with gas continuing to go up that dream does not seem possible. Yet you are here looking for a alternative fuel source that will save you money. Just think about cars that ran on water... What would that do to our planet? How much money would save? Well, there is no such thing as a car that runs completely on water but there is something that's one step closer to that dream...

Using both water and gas this system produces HHO gas which is used to power your car... You don't need a mechanic to install this for you, this can be completely self installed. The cost of materials is under $100 and all the stuff you need can be found at your local hardware and auto store.

Nothing major is done to your engine and you can always take it off in a matter of minutes, leaving nothing behind...

Electricity is required to separate the hydrogen and oxygen (for you non chemists out there, that's what water is made of). This is easily supplied by your car battery... don't worry it won't drain your battery every time, it only need a small amount. The way that you get energy from splitting hydrogen and oxygen is that every time a hydrogen molecule combusts you get energy. You can read all about this on the website below...

This process is called electrolysis... which splits the molecules and form it into HHO. This is called Brown's gas and it powers your car. The engine will run off off the vapors inside the engine... the vapors come from converting water into HHO. This is really a lot more simple process and will save you hundreds on gas bills. It also comes with a money back guarantee, so you have nothing to lose.

Water Fuel - Can You Run Your Car On Water?

By Jared Price
People today are talking about the possibility of running a car on water... We all hope we will see it soon and for a good reason too. But can a car run on water?

1. Why Is Demand For Water Powered Cars Increasing?

With gas prices flying thought the roof, people are demanding an alternative fuel source... But a fully water powered car has yet to pass safety standards. Lucky for us you can run your car on a water, gas mix!

2. How Does A Water Powered Automobile Work?

It's quite simple... The water tank has 2 metal plates, this is where it is used to replace the gasoline tank (don't start panicking). The two plates need to have an electrical charge, so they are hooked up to your cars battery, turning them in electrodes. The current caused by the two plates pass through the water, making the water react to from 2 other molecules H2 and O2.

The O2 molecule then forms a positively charged electrode... the H2 molecule forms a negatively charged electrode. The H2 charged electrode combusts and that is what powers your car. Now I know all of this is a little confusing but just take a look at the website below so you can buy the conversion guide and you will discover everything you need to know.

3. Okay... So Car's Can't Run Completely On Water... Yet

So you will still have to buy but your gas mileage will be through the roof! You'll be getting double (maybe triple) of what you had before... greatly reducing the need to fill up all the time, cutting you gas bill in half.

All of this can be done within a day and requires no special skills... Also the price of this conversion is under $200 which you can make up within a couple of weeks... The program also comes with a 56 day money back guarantee, so you have nothing to lose.

Are gas prices hurting your bank account? Want to run your car on water and save hundreds a month? Discover out how at my site http://www.RunYourCarOnWaterNow.com/.

How To Convert Your Car To Run On Water

By Jared Price
Do you want to build your very own water powered engine, but you have no idea where to begin? Many people believe that this is only a myth... I can assure that those people are partly right but also partly wrong, let me explain. Your car can't run on water. The technology just isn't there... but you can run your car on a mixture of both water and gas.

4 Benefits Of Using Water Powered Engines

1. Reduce Harmful Emissions and Pollution From Vehicles

By using this technology to power your car, you can help reduce your toxic emissions. Just imagine if everyone started using this... we would help the environment and reduce our dependence on foreign oil. Now of course this wouldn't solve the problem but it would certainly help things.

2. Improve Engine Performance & Power

Running your car on water also helps your engine by reducing wear and tear... this extends the life of your car and saves you from having to buy a new car or having to do constant maintenance.

3. Make Your Engine Quieter

Noise from your engine is also greatly reduced from using this technology... See when a car runs on water the temperature of the engine will drop, meaning the engine will preform much more efficiently.

Learn About The History Of Biofuel Cars

By Steven H. Longoria
Biofuel has been around for long than any of us have been alive. Indeed, the first diesel cars were designed to run on peanut oil in the 1880s!

Rupert Diesel could even be considered one of the fathers of environmental awareness since he wanted to prove that automobiles didn't have to depend on fossil fuels, so those diesel engines ran on peanut oil for the next 40 years.

Even Henry Ford mass-produced biofuel cars, beginning with the 1908 Model T Ford, and owned his own ethanol plant. 25% of the fuel sold by Standard Oil was biofuel. Eventually hemp became one of the main resources used for biofuels production since it produced so much more fuel than did peanut oil.

Unfortunately, the growing oil industry decided that petroleum based products were 'better'...even though they weren't...and, through aggressive marketing, convinced people that oil and gas were better and cheaper.

When they began demonizing hemp as "the evils of marijuana" - even though the hemp used in biofuels production wouldn't get anyone high - it was the beginning of the end. Up until that point, hemp usage had been legal in the United States. After the oil companies got through with their intense marketing, the biodiesel industry collapsed in the 1930s.

After World War II, petroleum companies also started buying up trolley car lines, which ran on electricity, and replacing them with buses running on diesel, and pushed for new highways. The boom following World War II led to an explosion of car purchases - all running on petroleum-based products, not biofuels.

What the oil companies didn't recognize then was that non-renewal energy sources are finite. That we would run out of oil. That we would become dependent on foreign old resources only 40 years later... and not be able to control foreign oil forever. After all, what are a few decades when they were getting rich then?

Now the auto industry is coming around full circle as public demand for more environmentally friendly cars that use renewable energy sources. Jeep Grand Cherokees and Dodge RAM trucks are among the 2008 vehicles that are designed to run on biofuels. Flex-fuel and hybrid cars also are being sold in greater numbers, and all US cars sold since 2000 can run n a combination of gas and biofuels.

Of course, the petroleum industry still fights back, coming up with reports claiming that petroleum is better for car engines than biofuels, an approach that is disputed by many other studies. But by 1985, all cars in Brazil could run on biofuels. Many other countries have been turning to biofuels over the past 20 years and, unlike in the United States, biofuels are available at most service stations across Europe.

There are currently several hundred major fleets of biofuels vehicles - cars, buses, and vans - in the United States, including fleets used by the military, the US Postal Service, and many transit systems.

So, while the petroleum industry fights to keep their control over the fuel industry, it looks like the history of biofuels cars, while shunted aside for a while, is still be written.

1. The Secret That Cars Can Run On Hydrogen

I did some research for myself and found that a researcher had found out that water could be used to power cars... this technology has been around for about 20 years. The man who invented this technology hid it from the public and major companies... that was until 1998 when he decided to show how he used it to power his vehicle. But he was threatened by several companies to not reveal his plans... This is why this technology has never been released and fully used.

2. Benefits Of Running Your Car On Hydrogen

The tool and equipment necessary are readily available to anyone. For under $200 you can increase your gas mileage by more than 200%! And this technology can be utilized by anyone, no special training required. You will also get a tax break for driving a environmentally friendly car. Run Your Car On Water - Is This For Real?

By Jonathan Drake
With skyrocketing gas prices, turmoil in the middle east and fears of global warming due to the burning of carbon fuels, there is little doubt that the world is in need of some kind of energy solution. There has been much talk in recent years about hydrogen cars, electric cars, there has even been a surge in the popularity of hybrid cars and smart cars, but one solution that you may not have heard of that is simplest of all is the installation of a tiny "install it yourself' device that allows you to run your car on water.

If you've never heard about water hybrids, then you are probably thinking the same thing that I was when first heard about this supposed "new technology". Your thinking yeah right, your thinking no way, your thinking bull... well, you know what you're thinking. I was the same way. I simply did not believe that it was possible to run your car on water.

It seems like for as long as I can remember I had heard stories of some inventor, inventing such a thing only to disappear a few weeks later, his designs stolen and the device gone. I have long believed that the oil industry was never going to let such a devise exists. After all, how would they make any money if you could run your car on water?

Well, you can imagine my surprise when I came across a set of commercially available plans for a simple little device that you could assemble in an afternoon, with easy to find parts that cost less than $200, that allow you to run your car on water. I should clarify, you can not run your car on water 100% but you can convert your car into a water hybrid that runs partially on water and can lead to improvements of over 50% on your fuel economy.

To learn everything you need to know about how to run your car on water go to http://www.WaterCarSolution.com

How Car Dealerships Price Their Used Cars

By Jeff Hendrix
A franchise dealer has a pretty simple model for the way they price used cars. They just pick a percentage over what the car has been estimated to be worth on the wholesale market. That wholesale market value is determined by the cars age, the cars make and model as well as options, the mileage and overall condition of the car.

A dealer determines how much markup they will use on used car based on these factors. The first thing they take into consideration is the price they paid to get the car. They might have taken the car as a trade against buying a new car, which means they did not pay any cash for it, or they bought the car from a private seller, an auction or wholesaler. The second thing they must take into consideration is the cost that they have paid for repairs and reconditioning the car needed. They then finally have to tack on more to the price so that they can make money. This is a business they are running after all.

The markup that a dealer puts on will be influenced by all these factors. As you can see it is clearly more than just one thing that affects how much people have to pay for a used car. If you want to be an educated buyer of used cars your objective should be to find out the cars wholesale price and then how much the dealer has put into the car to get it ready. This will tell you how to plan your negotiations since a dealer is almost never going to go lower than those two things.

When shopping for used cars, everyone knows that you need to bargain. It is for this reason that most dealerships include a "negotiation pad" in what they use as their markups. Many people who come to the used car lots will not buy a car unless they feel they are getting a deal. If dealerships marked cars with the prices they actually wanted to sell them for then people would come in and try and haggle below that level. If they put it at say 1000 above, they can easily let people bargain them down that 1000 and still get a price they feel is fair. If people don't bother to bargain them down then they have made an extra 1000. This is why it is important to know how much the dealership has put into the car. Once you know that, you know how much you can try and bargain off and what is the absolute minimum they will go to.

How To Determine The Wholesale Price Of Your Car

By Jeff Hendrix
If you are going to buy a car it doesn't matter if it from a private owner or if its from a dealer, the information you need to know is what the going rate for that car is wholesale. One good source to look at is to look into the department at your bank that handles car loans. They often times have all sorts of information and sources you can use such as price books or auction reports that will show what various makes and models are worth on the market.

Another good source to look at is the auto price guides put out for industry people. Some common ones are Galves Auto Price List, the Kelly Blue Book Auto Market Report and several others. These books try to gather together the average wholesale prices for various cars around the country. The problem with looking at these books is that the prices listed in the books often times do not agree. Say for a three-year-old Chevrolet as example, the prices in just those books varied by nearly $2000.

The consumer price books that you can find at any bookstore or newsstand are common but are riddled with problems. They give figures in the books that are a general range and yet they cannot write a book that would include price estimates for all the various things that can impact the cost of a car, or give you an estimate of how much a dealer may have had to put into the car to get it to its present state.

The very best way to get an honest estimate of the cars value is to figure out exactly how much the dealer has in the car. The way to know that is to know how much the dealer paid the previous owner, how much had to be then spent to get it into selling condition and miscellaneous charges that might have added up.

Now no dealer is going to straight up tell you what they paid for a car. The best way to get an honest number out of them about what a car is worth is to trick them into telling you. Go onto the lot, tell them that you are just looking around. The salespeople will ignore you because you are not a definite buyer. Once the salespeople have left, wander around the lot and look for a car you would like to buy. When you find one, right down every piece of information you can find on it. Options, mileage, general condition, all of that. Now here comes the trick, you are going to go home and call up the dealership. Tell them you have a car that you need to sell, then give them all the info from the other car. They will quote you a price and you can comfortably add 15% to that number to find out the true wholesale cost for the dealer as well as refurbishing.

Convert Your Car to Run on Water part 2

By Timothy Payn
Why not convert your car to run on water? It's wonderfully easy to do. Most cars can be converted to run on water for less than $500. Some methods convert totally to water power. Others improve the efficiency of your existing gas engine. Whichever you choose, you can do it all yourself. Not just that.

If you're not happy with the results, any decent system will be easily removed in under an hour. Plus, you won't find any problems with your pre-existing gasoline system.

Practical guides are commonplace to convert car to run on water. Most are easy to follow. All are relatively cheap. I haven't seen one that costs more than $100. Any decent guide will also come with a full money-back guarantee.

They will take you through how to convert your car to run on water from start to finish. You will be told where to source the correct parts and at the best prices. How to attach the cell to your current engine will also be explained. Finally, you should learn how to calibrate the system to obtain maximum efficiency.

Most guides on how to convert your car to run on water claim around a 30% increase in efficiency. (The conversion also prolongs the life of your engine.) For a medium sized vehicle, this equates to an annual saving of around $1000 at the gas pumps. Moreover, the IRS will refund you $2000 if you convert your car to run on water. So hang on to your guide and receipts for parts so you can prove that that is what you have done.

There is quite a selection of guides to choose from. The quality varies somewhat but all the ones I have reviewed, about 8 in total, are at the very least adequate and won't leave you stuck not knowing what to do. Burning water in conjunction with gas is still the most common method. Eventually I expect systems running cars entirely on water will be properly developed to a practical level.

Do it yourself is still the most common way to convert your car to run on water. However, it is interesting to see reported that Ford in Australia intends to give its backing to research by the University of Melbourne into hydrogen fuel technologies for vehicles. The Minister for Energy and Resources reported that this study had received a grant to the tune of $1.2 million from the State Government for Victoria. The President of Ford Australia is obviously proud to be supplying engines and resources for the project.

And all that is just in one Australian state. With concerns over dwindling resources and global warming, I believe the race is on to develop hydrogen fuel cell technology, hydrogen capture and storage. The holy grail will be to produce maximum efficiency without reliance on gas and incorporate it into production cars.

Of course for now anyone can convert your car to run water. Zero mechanical experience is required. All you need is the right guide and a few cheap parts and you could be saving masses on gas tomorrow. Why not convert your car to run on water today?

Buying A Used Car From A Franchise Dealership

By Jeff Hendrix
The biggest advantage of shopping at the used car lots is that they often have the biggest and best selection of desirable cars (low-mileage, late model). If you are going to buy from a new car dealership that sells the same car that you are buying used, new. So for instance if you are going to buy a Toyota, you will probably get the best car at a Toyota Dealership. This is because in theory a Toyota Dealership will know the cars the best and have the best models for sale.

Buying from a new-car dealers trade in is probably going to be the most expensive way to get a used car. This is because new-car dealers only sell the cream of the crop of used cares. If they get a car with high-mileage or body damage, or one that would need repair, they just sell it of at a used auto auction. Also a new car dealership can provide the best warranty on the car, as well as they are looking to build a strong customer base. If you buy one used auto that works great, you are likely to go back to that same dealership to buy the next one. They also know that some day you may be looking for a new car so it is worth their time and money to provide only the highest quality of car.

Pricing on these cars is going to be the most of any other source of cars. They do include the best warranties though, and are most often in the best condition. The pricing of these cars is based on a ton of factors such as market demand for the car, expected resale value later, etc etc. It is also important to keep in mind that dealership will probably never sell the car at below the wholesale cost. The thing you get for these higher costs is lower risks. The risk of buying a car from these dealerships is much much slimmer than it is at any other source of used cars.

Learn More About Run Your Car On Water

By Jared Price
Are you having difficulty looking at the prices of gas? Did you know that there is technology to double your gas mileage for under $200? It's called a gas conversion kit and it creates HHO gas (aka Brown's gas)...

Brown's gas was discovered by a researcher named Yull Brown... This technology has been around for about 20 years but only now is gaining momentum with today's gas prices.

It is really easy to turn your car into a water powered vehicle... You place to metal plates charged with electricity in a container of ordinary water and it send a current through the water... causing electrolysis. Which separates it into 2 hydrogen molecules and 1 oxygen molecules, this results in HHO gas.

HHO gas supplements the regular gas that's in the tank... this makes for a much cleaner burn and better efficiency. This will reduce the wear and tear on the engine. So you don't have to spend money on expensive car repairs...

Here's an interesting fact for you... You only use 20% of the gas that you put in your car, the other 80% goes to waste!!! I can't in all good conscience do that, being wasteful and hurting the environment. For under $200 you will be able to change that 20% to 45% - 70%! Now that is exciting to me... The whole system itself takes a few hours to put on and requires no special skills to do well. It does not alter you engine and can be taken off in a matter of minutes...

One more benefit of having a hybrid car is a tax write off... you get to write off your car upgrade in your taxes. Which is definitely a added bonus!

If low, add as recommendeddo sure you dont see it dripping or pouring out on the cranch, which would bespeak a major engine leak. Today's complicated vehicles demand a immense option of intricate portion to rest running at full capacity- or just to remain running at all. Brake pads and rotors are wearable portion.

Trade-in: bargainer inventory that is aging or does not encounter their profile (e.g, your old Toyota Avalon that you traded in for a glistening new CLK350 Cabriolet at a Mercedes-Benz franchised franchise). Some cover bumper-to-bumper, similar to a maker warrantee, demur pare pieces, upholstery, outside components, ornamental items, and a figure of other exclusions. 3) Low Coolant Light: The Low Coolant Light will come on when the coolant drops below the coolant level detectorgenerally one to two quarts. The s best instance scenario is that there is an electrical issue with the Oil Level Warning System circuit. Naturally many other project parameters are sacrificed in the pursual of power.

Radiator cooling fans are set between the engine and the radiator to transfer heat from the radiator and maintain it cool. Whether through incompetency or indolence, mechanic frequently dont do repairs correctly.

There are several other car accessories; some of them for the outside and some of them for the interior. An equal radiator-cooling fan not only protects the engine of the vehicle from getting burnt but also ensures its longevity. This is more than "twice" the manufacturers recommendations (even after calculating manufacturer times against the industry measure multiplier). You should chance it nether care or oil service. If you decide to pick one up do sure you get the note aluminium oil cap that matches. Many of the automotive part and constituent suppliers are involved in the distribution of original equipment manufacture (OEM) parts. Among these types of vehicles one can chance a good number of quality cars ready to marketplace. By analogy with an operational amplifier, the EMS enactment as a feedback cringle around an engine with a great handle of open eyelet gain. As a consequence, dealerships and garages are repairing a higher percentage of cars than ever before, and mechanic' rates have risen in accordance with the increased necessity of their services. They also hold money, so theres less risk of bankruptcy.

The baby boomers were around to see these cars at their inception and they still transport a torch for them today. These springs are under enormous pressure with an entire car sitting on them, and if one should come loose piece using the spring compressor it could easily kill you. Thus the load is on the repair client to fill out the forms, contact their warranty company, and expect reimbursement via check, which can take 2-8 weeks.

They can also be a important squander of money. These providers are generally reputable, but not always. However, if there is an issue (such as the warrant supplier filing chapter 11, which is quite frequent in the lengthy service contract concern), the trader may measure in to cover any repairs that would have been covered nether the defunct plan. Check with the American Automobile Association. There are a lot of people out there that want supercar performance, but dont' desire to have to struggle to get in and out of the car. Adding these accessories to a car means ensuring higher security. However, if you are thinking of changing your spoilers in the very nigh future, skip this measure to salve you the cost of painting-In comparing with the old days, You will hold your head blown by these prices.

In the automotive service industry, every type of service middle rips you off, dealers are no exception. Used cars are for people who do not value the new car smell so highly as to spend a few thousand dollars excess at the franchise dealers salesroom to get it. The situation has changed dramatically concluded the twelvemonth. This may happen if there are not adequate interested bidders or if the vehicle is exceptionally unattractive, but it is rarely the case and should not be taken for granted. Go somewhere with a broad choice of tools and look around.

Run Your Car On Water - Is It Possible?

By Jared Price
Have you heard that you can run your car on water? This technology is becoming more widespread by the day, it is also known is "HHO Gas Based Car System". How it works is that it combines water and gas to power your car.

1. How Does This Technology Work?

Well your car will not run on just water, because that technology does not exist. First it extracts HHO from the water, then it uses something called electrolysis (passes a electric current through it).

The gas is then burned to provide energy for you engine to power it up. Your car battery provides the electricity needed for electrolysis.

2. What Are The Benefits Of A Hybrid?

Here is a list of some of the benefits:

-A tax deduction. By driving a environmentally friendly vehicle you are able to write that off on your taxes.

-You are conserving the environment by not spewing as much pollution in the air.

-You are less dependent on gasoline and you can continue to drive your car at an affordable rate which means more freedom.

Alternative fuel sources are being explored very seriously. In fact even the government rewards environmentally clean cars and upgrades. This technology is great for businesses with a lot of cars or trucks especially with diesel now been more than gas. It really can call some tremendous savings...

3. How Can You Have Your Own Water Power Car?

Most people think they have to go out and buy a $25,000 hybrid to get all these great benefits... but you may be shocked to find that you could do this with your car for under $200. The whole process only takes about a day and can be removed in a few minutes... so at least try out this amazing technology. With the 56 day money-back guarantee you have nothing to lose for trying out this technology.

Cut Your Gas Bill by 50% And Help The Environment

By Jared Price
I don't know what you think, but gas prices are making it hard to live.

Spending hundreds a month for gas is completely ridiculous! What really gets me going, is not only are the oil companies jacking up the price, the auto maker and Government are keeping engines running inefficiently so that you are only getting 25% of the gas you put in your vehicle... where does that other 75% go you ask? In your lungs... that's right it spews it into the atmosphere.

This inefficiency also destroys your engine, making car life only 12 to 15 years for some.

When I heard that you can change your engine into an efficient engine that would cut fuel senses by 50% and reduced for wear and tear... I was quite interested. This is not like hydrogen fuel cells either... this is a inexpensive system that splits water molecules into what is called Brown's gas which mixes with the gas. This makes it burn more efficiently improving your gas mileage while saving you were engine from wear and tear.

The crazy part about this is that for under $150 you could build one of these systems in less than a day.

Someone actually putting his car and he cut his fuel cost by over 70%! I don't think any of us wouldn't like to get some of that...

And you don't have to do anything crazy with your engine either and you can remove it in three minutes. It's super simple, easy instructions and you don't have to be a mechanic to do it.

So if you want to see drastic change in your engine's performance and fuel mileage I suggest you convert your car to hybrid.

HHO Car

By Timothy Payn
An HHO car is something special and something to be proud of. However it could not be much easier for any old bod to convert their existing vehicle to an HHO car. Not only that, but it costs less than $400 for an HHO car. That's right, that is less than your monthly shopping bill. And anyone can make an HHO car without any technical expertise whatsoever.

HHO cars fall into the category of technologies which use a proton exchange membrane as the electrolyte within the fuel cell. Hydrogen is stored in the car or truck, just like standard gas. The difference is that very small amounts of hydrogen are stored compared to gasoline. This makes the whole system safe. Oxygen is then sucked in from the air outside and used as fuel. The only results are water, heat and electricity.

The electricity powers or part-powers the vehicle. The heat and water are dispersed into the atmosphere. So, as far as byproducts are concerned there is no pollution. The environment is left unaffected and safe.

Hydrogen produced by a proton exchange membrane in an HHO car is clean and green. It is not like extracting hydrogen from methane. This process produces carbon dioxide which is harmful to the environment. It accounts for around 90% of hydrogen produced in Western economies.

To convert an existing car to an HHO car is easy and cheap. All you need is the right manual. It is not necessary to modify the existing internal combustion engine in any way. The HHO car conversion can be removed within minutes, if wanted, without in any way affecting the engine. A water fuel system will increase the engine's efficiency by about 35%, actually increase performance and prolong the life of the engine. HHO car owners report the lifespan of their vehicles to outstrip diesels by more than 60%.

With a HHO car kit, H2 (hydrogen) is pulled into the fuel cell via flow field plates. They control the flow of electrons permitting the hydrogen molecules access before they are dispersed in an even manner by a carbon mesh. A platinum (or similar) catalyst then splits the hydrogen molecules into positive ions and negative electrons.

In a HHO car the PEM is at the heart of everything. This proton exchange mechanism rejects electrons but readily lets through electron ions. The electrons then make a vortex around the PEM and produce electricity. This electricity is passed to the motor. With most systems this reduces the gas fuel requirement. In more advanced technology, no gas at all is needed. However, as I write, these systems requiring no need for gas are very bulky and not particularly practical.

Oxygen is also pulled into the fuel cell. The oxygen (O2) is then split in two. These atoms then combine with the hydrogen electrons and ions. That forms water (H20) which is then expelled from the vehicle, ultimately via the exhaust system.

Anyone can have an HHO car, right now. A decent manual will cost around $90. The parts will set you back another $300 or so. Even someone with very rudimentary mechanical knowledge and almost no automotive tools, like me, can convert their vehicle to an HHO car in under two hours.

3 Tips For Buying A Used Battery Charger

By M Stone Dupree
Buying a used battery charger can save you some bucks. Everyone loves a good bargain. Don't let your good deal become a bust by observing these simple rules of caution.

How many hours operated

This may seem like an unreasonable request. Although no one will be able to tell you exactly how long they have been run. The owner should be able to tell you how it was used and how often. Doing some basic calculations will give you a ballpark idea. For example a charger that charged a battery overnight once a week for ten years would be 8 hours x 52 weeks x 10 years would be 4160 hours. This figure is really useful to compare two or more chargers that you may be looking at but you can use it as a feel for just how good of a bargain you may be getting. The reason behind this is that the longer an electronic device is run the more likely it is to fail. Just like the human body as we age the more likely something is to fail. Two items that add to the shortening of an electronic devices life is high voltage and constant turning off and on. Chargers provide and do exactly these two things.

A unit that is turned off and on many times will not run quite as many hours due to the stress of heating and cooling on the components. Constant temperatures help prolong electronics. If you have ever been in a room full of computers such as servers the administrators will have the room at a constant cool temperature. It is the same idea.

How clean is it

This may sound silly bit it is actually quite important. Electronic devices love to attract dust and dirt. Years of sitting in a garage can build up layers of dust and plug up vents. This covering can make chargers heat up higher than they are supposed to and possibly shorten the life of your device. Although this is impossible to detect by buying through ebay or some other site as most sellers will have cleaned up the devices on the outside. It is, however, useful for buying from Craigslist or a yard sale or some other avenue where you can actually see and touch the device.

Age may determine options

This almost goes without saying, but it is worth keeping in mind. The age of the machine can determine what bells and whistles it has. If you need just a basic charger that you don't mind putting on a timer yourself or can watch the time to shut it off then this shouldn't matter. However if you need a charger that automatically changes over to trickle mode after a 80% charge then you need to keep age in mind.

Buying a used battery charger can be a bargain. Most everyone can agree that a bargain can be found buying used. There is always a risk, however. Keep these tips in mind when buying from Ebay, Craigslist, yard sales or anyplace place to buy used to help sweeten the deal.

Scams and Solutions - How to Really Improve Your Car's Gas Mileage

By Michael D Cooper
You've read a lot of stories and seen a lot of products that are supposed to improve your gas mileage and save you money. Some seem to make sense, others seem too good to be true, and there are a few that are just plain ridiculous. Many of them find their basis in truth-enough that they can cite some study and gain legitimacy, but are still just so much wasted packaging. The validity of some are harder to discern, they could be legit, but they may not be.

Take for example the fuel line magnets. There is evidence that a high powered magnet can break up the clumps of molecules in gas, but they would need to be far stronger than small magnets you clip on the fuel line, and far closer to the fuel injector-most likely one on each injector. This is something that has some science behind it, but fails in practical application.

A lot of the products that you'll find online have sound science behind them, but to properly execute them you would have to significantly modify your vehicle's engine. The distilled, packaged versions that are easy to install lose all of their ability to be effective. It's important to note that many of the products that are available online create conditions in the engine that modern vehicle's computer systems will compensate, or even over compensate for.

However, there are some real products out there, but there are also some very simple things that you can do to improve your mileage-a lot. Anyone that has ever tracked their mileage against what their car is supposed to get will quickly find that they never see the advertised mileage. Part of that is because MPG ratings are created under ideal conditions. The 2008 EPA ratings have been altered to represent much more real driving conditions, but even with those updates John Q Public will be lucky to ever see those numbers. The first thing is to actually get that gas mileage your car was advertised as having.

Simple and Free (well, mostly free):

Fill up your tires! Believe it or not every 1psi that your tires are deflated from their recommended pressure is costing you money! The average rate is 0.4% decrease in mileage for every 1psi across all 4 tires. That means that if your recommended inflation pressure is supposed to be 40psi and they are all at 20psi, then you are down 8% in gas mileage. If your car is supposed to get 30mpg, then it now gets 27.6. Two years ago I would have said no big deal, but at $3.50/gallon, with my driving 1250 miles a month (the average in the US) that's $12.68/month. If my wife drives as much we're now at $25.36/month just because we're too lazy to pump up our tires.

It's estimated that every day Americans burn 2 billion extra barrels of oil due to under inflated tires. There are nations that could be sustained by that.

Clean that air filter. Well, don't clean it, buy a new one. The EPA estimates that a dirty air filter, aside from actually damaging your engine, can decrease your mileage by 10%. On my 30mpg car, that's 3mpg. With my underinflated tires I'm now down at 24.6mpg. If you're keeping track my negligence has now cost me (for both our two cars) $64/month.

So $64/month isn't that much, you're saying. Let's move to the tune-up.

Having a car that needs a tune-up/oil change can easily be another 5% in fuel mileage (though if your oil gets like mine has once or twice, you can count on it being higher). Let's stick with the conservative number. So we need a new air filter, our tires are low and we haven't had a tune-up for 6000 miles or so. That's another 1.5%, which knocks our once decent mileage car down to 23.1mpg. That means we are now burning 12.45 more gallons of fuel a month than we would if things were tuned up. For most cars that's another fill-up a month. At $3.50 a gallon we're now at over $87.15/month between my wife and me; if we dropped HBO that would be our cable bill.

Sure, some of that stuff isn't really free, but you're supposed to be doing it anyway; it's part of the cost of owning a car. If you do it regularly it will easily pay for itself.

So we've covered free stuff, what can you do to boost your mileage that costs a bit, but will certainly pay off?

Let's go back to the air filter. When your car burns its air fuel mixture, it wants a nice 14.7:1 air-fuel ratio (that's evaporated fuel, not liquid fuel). A car engine is really just a big air pump. It draws air in by suction. The air filter is a necessary evil when it comes to cars. They can suck in a lot more air if they don't have to do it through a bunch of paper/fiber filters, but without them you'll get a lot of gunk in there and your engine won't last a month.

There are a lot of air filters out there that claim to improve mileage. The folks over at K&N Air Filters have made it their business to be the best in the business. Many people claim 5mpg improvements in their mileage using a K&N filter. Let's tack that onto our 30mpg vehicle - sure it's an estimate, but all of these things do vary in the real world anyway. Going from 30 to 35mpg, is going to cause us to burn 5.95 fewer gallons of gas a month. Getting one of those bad boys for my wife and I has added $41.67 to our pocket book. We're good now and doing regular maintenance, so we're now up $128.82 a month!

So now we're getting excited, what else can we do to bump this up a bit more?

If you do a lot of highway driving, invest the time to find your car's sweet spot. What's that you ask? Every vehicle has a point where it is the most efficient. This is a factor of aerodynamics (largely whether or not it has any), gearing and engine size. Manufacturers often specifically engineer their cars for a certain sweet spot where it is the most efficient and gets the best mpg. Harley Davidson typically aims for about 75mph-most auto manufacturer's aim for around 55mph.

There are a few ways you can work this out. The first is to get a gauge that measures your fuel flow, and then drive consistently at different speeds. Most of us don't have that and you may just need to do some trial and error and figure it out. There are also a lot of articles on the Internet about where that sweet spot is for different cars, though it honestly can vary with each car. If you have a vehicle that reports your fuel consumption on its display you can of course use that. Testing showed that my 30mpg car gets 30mpg at 62mph, but 25mpg at 75mph. Interesting enough it gets 28mpg at 55mph. That's not that surprising; there are a lot of factors that play into mileage. So by modifying my behavior (and my wife too) we save another $41.67 and are now up over $170/month in savings.

Let's put that in perspective. That's $2045 a year. Put that in the bank at 5% and you'll have $14k in 5 years. I think I need to say that again. Do regular maintenance. Buy a good air filter and find where your car gets the best MPG and every 5 years you and your wife could buy a decent back from lease car.

I'm getting excited myself and I already know all this stuff. There's more ahead. There's no reason a car that gets 30mpg out of the gate can't move up over 40mpg, even close in on 50mpg depending on the vehicle and the engine.

Stay tuned for part two of this article where we'll be discussing new technologies that will revolutionize the automotive industry, and simpler, yet profound advances that you can take advantage of now.

Auto Security Alarm Systems and Other Convenient Upgrades

By Brad Seabourne
When it comes to all the various auto options you can add to your vehicle, there aren't many that offer the ease and advantages of car keyless entry systems, car alarms and remote car starters. They are not merely simple devices to use, they also provide a significant degree of protection too.

Your car's security system can be the difference between scaring a thief or having a stolen car. If there are signs of a security system, the thief might think twice. If a thief does break into your car, the loud alarm will normally scare them away.

It is, of course, likely that you have theft recovery insurance, but this will at least save you the time and the trouble of going through the claims process. On top of that it will also free you of the requirement of paying a deductible, and beyond that your car's value is probably less in the eyes of the insurance company, than it is in your eyes.

Many times, insurance companies use a preset value, according to the big-name value books, to set a price for your car. However, after years of use and miles, your car becomes less valuable, so if it does get stolen you may not get as nice of a car as you had.

Auto security alarm systems often result in substantial savings even when no one ever tries to steal your vehicle. This is due to the insurers' price-setting policies. They charge smaller policy premiums if you have specific features like front and side airbags. That holds true for alarm devices as well. Because there is less likelihood that your automobile will be stolen, you will therefore pay lower payments for your auto insurance.

Safety features vary depending on the type of auto security system that one has in their car. And while a remote car starter may not offer all that other auto security systems provide, a remote car starter offers features for the user that others do not, including convenience. Forget about freezing your buns off waiting for the car to heat up, do it from inside the house.

Convenience is certainly something that car keyless entry systems offers to those that have them on their car, but they also allow a car owner a greater sense of safety that their car can and will be protected while leaving behind worries about possibly forgetting the keys in the car.

Adding a few upgrades to your car is easy with all the available options today that make your life simpler, safer, and less expensive. Save yourself a headache or two in addition to the lower cost insurance with auto security alarm systems, and make your life more convenient with keyless entry systems or a remote car starter.

Among car accessories car alarms and remote car starters are the most helpful. Auto security alarm systems are a great deterrent against theft. You can also save money by getting a discount on your car insurance for having these items installed. A keyless ignition is a top rated convenience item that allows you to start your car without having to go outside in inclement weather. A car keyless entry system also offers convenience and removes the fear of locking your keys in the car. Having the aforementioned items can make your life easier, safer and less expensive.

Things to Do After a Car Accident

By Kiya Sama
Whether you have a fender bender or a major accident, it's likely that emotions will run high and you will be upset and confused. If you have a car accident:

1. Stop and survey the scene. Is it safe for you to get out of your car? Do you need to get clear of the car right away, e.g., is the car on fire or do you smell gas?

2. Check for injuries. If anyone in the accident is hurt, call 911 for assistance.

3. Call the police. Many local jurisdictions do send officers to the scene of an accident, regardless of the circumstances. However, if the accident is minor (no injuries, no severe damage to automobiles), the police may not show up, or they may respond but not file an accident report. If police officers are on the scene, do get their names, badge numbers, and telephone numbers. If an accident report is filed, you will want to get a copy of it.

4. Move your car out of traffic if it is safe to do so. If you have an injured person inside, you might have to leave the car where it is. Flip on emergency flasher lights and/or put out warning devices.

5. Exchange information. Ask the other driver for his or her name, address, and phone number. Get the other party's driver's license number as well as insurance information (name and address of insurance company and the driver's policy number). Also jot down the make, model, and color of the car along with the car's license plate number and registration number. Get the names, addresses and phone numbers of any passengers in the other car.

6. Look around the scene for any witnesses to the accident. If there are any, get their names, addresses, and phone numbers.

7. Do not admit fault to anyone. Fault will be determined later and anything you say may come back to haunt you.

8. Before you leave the scene, write down your recollection of the accident (if you can). Make note of the location, time, road conditions, weather conditions, traffic conditions. Draw a simple diagram of the scene and where the vehicles were positioned. If you happen to have a camera in your car, or someone at the scene has a camera, take photos of the positions of the cars as well as close-ups of damage that occurred. If you can't write down your recollections immediately, do it as soon as you get home and have calmed down.

9. Call your insurance company as soon as possible. Your agent will handle most of the details on any claims made as a result of the accident. If you have to do anything, like filing out an accident report or getting an estimate for damage done to your car, the agent will tell you how to proceed.

10. If you feel even slightly hurt, get yourself checked our immediately at an emergency room or schedule an appointment with your family doctor as soon as possible.

Run Your Car On Water - Is Running Your Car On Water Possible?

By Jared Price
Can you really run your car on water? No. Cars still run on gas. What you are going to be doing with Water Conversion kit is creating an hydrogen powered hybrid by taking advantage of some chemistry ( water, hydrogen and oxygen molecules).

How this technology work is by using simple parts that you can find at your local hardware and auto store that will power your or car's battery to split water molecules into HHO gas. The gas then goes into the intake of your car and creates a more efficient use of your gas. HHO gas is a very safe and powerful power source for your car. Conversion kits are everywhere on how to convert your car into a hybrid. But still many people doubt this technology.

Is it safe?

The short answer is yes. This is less dangerous then changing your oil which is a common task for many people. Just follow the instruction and you will be safe. Just don't try anything stupid like seeing how flammable hydrogen is. Running your car on water makes it a bit safer, because the fuel mixture contains less combustible gases... The process also help wear and tear on your engine... by making a cooler burn, which later on will save you a lot of visits to your mechanic.

What does this technology work best with?

It works with pretty much every gas and diesel powered vehicle... but this technology is aimed at giving better gas mileage, not minimizing power loss. So some SUV's will not as big of a difference in gas mileage as some of the more compact vehicles.

Are gas prices hurting your bank account? Want to run your car on water and save hundreds a month? Discover out how at my site http://www.RunYourCarOnWaterNow.com/

Run A Car On Hydrogen - How to Run A Car With Hydrogen

By Cody Wheeler
Holy cow! It's pretty impossible not to notice how much more you are paying for gas now. I doubt there is even one consumer that hasn't noticed this awful and upward continuing trend of rising gas prices. The question on all of our minds is, what is being done about it? Well, unfortunately the government isn't going to step in.

They could subsidize gas like in other countries, but that would just mean raising taxes elsewhere. They could have a "gas tax holiday" but that would only spike demand as people rush to fill their tanks when this does happen. They could tax profits of oil companies, but that would just force them to cut supply so prices would go even higher.

Basically the only way gas prices are going to go down is if world demand for oil declines somehow, and in a BIG way. Anything else will just make it worse. How can we cut world demand? Well it is going to take a conscious effort by consumers to save gas. You can change your driving habits, you can buy a hybrid, or you can run a car on hydrogen. My advice would be to stay away from buying a hybrid. That can be pretty expensive.

However if you can learn how to run a car on hydrogen as well as change your driving habits, you can dramatically reduce your dependence on oil, as well as chip away at world demand, one person at a time.

To run a car on hydrogen isn't as difficult as it seems. Many folks across the country are jumping on this trend and saving up to 75% on fuel costs. That can add up to thousands of dollars per year, and climbing higher as gas prices continue to rise.

Confused? Probably. Let me explain. This technology doesn't involve using actual pure hydrogen to power your vehicle. You can actually perform a small and simple conversion on your existing engine that will allow you to run a car on hydrogen.

Basically this involves harnessing one of the most abundant resources on Earth, water. Water contains two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen. When an electrical current is introduced into this molecule, it is broken down into it's respective parts. This conversion system takes these hydrogen and oxygen atoms and converts them into HHO gas, or Brown's gas.

When this gas is introduced into your vehicles combustion system using the method shown in our guides, it acts as a highly potent and highly efficient burning fuel additive, effectively allowing you to run a car on hydrogen.

This will also cause your car to run much cleaner, or greener, as it will burn much less gas, thus depositing much less harmful carbon into the atmosphere.

Which saves you money by giving your vehicle better gas mileage. Which means less filling up your car with gas. It also gives you improve performance and power in your engine. One of the most important things it does especially today's culture is it reduces harmful emissions from your vehicle. Making it better for the environment...

Something else that does is give you a tax break. You can write it off on your taxes by driving a environmentally friendly vehicle. That also save you money... but how much would it take to convert? The average price is around $150 and most of the equipment and supplies can be found at your local hardware and auto store. It also works on any type of vehicle trucks, cars, SUVs virtually every vehicle can be converted to run on water. Most experts say by the year 2012 almost every car will be a hybrid. This could mean that this product will be taken off the market because of car manufacturers. So you will be spending thousands of dollars instead of the hundreds of dollars.

So now there really is no excuse for you not to get hybrid. I know I was skeptical when I first heard about this technology but the experts prove that it works. This is going to save you a lot of money...

4 Benefits of a Hybrid Car

By Jared Price
What are some of the benefits of having a hybrid car? With gas prices on the rise and pollution everywhere being energy friendly is on a lot of people's minds. But really how can you afford to buy a $25,000 hybrid when you have a car already... what if you could convert the car that you have now into a hybrid? Would you do it? In this article I will be going over four benefits from running your car on water and then show you how you can run your vehicle on water.

1. Better Gas Mileage. Having better gas mileage means not having to fill out this much. This of course means that you save money and with gas prices as they are now that's a good thing.
2. Tax break. If you drive environmentally friendly vehicle you can write it off on your taxes. This means even more savings for you...
3. Reduce Harmful Emissions. Hybrids also make world a cleaner place by reducing the emissions of your vehicle. So you are just saving money you also have a clean conscience.
4. This is kind of a two and one. You can improve the performance and power of your engine plus make you engine quieter... cutting down on noise pollution.

These reasons were not enough for me to buy a $25,000 hybrid. But I did find something that lets you convert your own car into a hybrid. And it can be a truck, car, SUV, or whatever. This technology will help you save hundreds of dollars a month... so my suggestion to you is convert your car before the automobile market becomes completely hybrid. Because this product might be taken off the market once that happens and you will have to pay thousands instead of hundreds.

Convert Your Car To Water

By Nicusor Valentin Prefac
No way ....That's what I would say when I see the gas prices, which are 4$ in some areas. Now, if you don't have millions of dollars in your bank account, you are affected by these prices as I am, and other people too.

The solution to this problem is to convert your car to water. Don't think that you will have a car that uses only water instead of gas, because it's not like this. If you convert your car to water you will have a car that runs also on water and gas, but you will be able to save thousands of dollars every year. Our engines are designed to use only 20% of the gas that we buy, and the rest of 80% is pollution. If you run your car with water also the percent of gas used will be higher, and you will increase your gas mileage and save money. People who convert their cars have a mileage improvement of at least 50%. With a 50% mileage improvement you will spend less money on gas, and let me show you how much you can save, if you convert your car to water, with a small example:

If you spend on gas 1000$ every month you will be able to save at least 500$, depending on your car's engine and size.

People all over the world use this method to save money on gas and improve gas mileage, and with the thousands of dollars spent every year they buy a new car, they pay their rent, or they go in vacations. Also converting your car to burn water and gas also your engine will run water and

The solution it's 100% safe and doesn't need to have any mechanical skills thanks to the step by step guides available on the internet, which also provide plans and images with what you should do to run your car with water. The method was also presented on Fox News and Project Energy along with some customers and the inventor of the conversion kit.

Do you want to convert your car to water with less than 150$, including the conversion kit?

Can You Really Run Your Car on Water?

By Jared Price
With gas prices on the rise everyday and the need of transportation.

Let me tell about something that has been happening lately. You can run you car on water! I have been running my car on water for a little while now, and the thing I tell people about is... it save me loads of money and is beneficial to my car's engine.

When you are done reading this article, you will know where to get the best water conversion kit, without spending a fortune.

In the past I have spent over $500 on guides and materials and got nothing out of it. But then I read something like you are reading and the person told where to get the best conversion kit out there on the market today... guess what he was right. It worked perfectly and was one of the most affordable kits out there... it's also reversible (if you want to take it off your car).

It doesn't cost over $500, in fact it costs less than $200!

Now it's time for the facts. So you can run your car on water but I know you are asking.

Can you Actually Run Your Car On water?

Yes and No... Let me explain...

Two years ago a formula was found that made cars run on both water and gas. This formula contained 2 hydrogen, and 1 oxygen molecule.

This formula is incredibly wasteful... Cars only use 20% of the gas you put in there (nothing like getting your money's worth) and the other 80% is thrown up in the air (aka pollution).

If you convert you car on water things get much better... the usage of gas goes up to around 40% - 70%. Giving you much better gas milage because you are actually using the gas that you put (novel idea).

So let's say the price of gas is $4 you fill it up all the way with your unconverted car. Now do the same with your convertered car but cut the price in half... that's the one of the benifits of having a water conversion kit. You get more for your money!

Remember what Ben Franklin said "a penny saved is always a penny earned."

Cheap Muscle Cars For Sale - The Benefits of Buying and Restoring Your Dream Muscle Car

By Arthur Dent
Benefit 1: They are cheap!

Due to the concern over environmental issues, with car emissions being a major contributor to global warming (and muscle cars unfortunately emit more than most) and the financial concern over the cost of gasoline (again, these old girls guzzle fuel like it's going out of style), even cars in great condition (often not too far from showroom condition) can be had for bargain prices these days. Just remember if you do buy a muscle car as a project, or if you get something fully restored and ready to go, be responsible to the environment (and your wallet) by only driving on special occasions, such car shows, vintage car runs, or just that one weekend a month roar through those old country roads. This will have less impact on global warming and your bankbook, and has the added benefit of keeping the experience of driving your dream car special and fresh each time you take it out.

Benefit 2: It's a learning experience!

If you've ever wanted to learn more about cars and engines, restoring a muscle car is by far the best way to go about it. The beauty of these old cars is there's no high tech computer controlled engine systems to worry about, and many repairs and upgrades can be done by yourself from home with the right parts, a copy of the workshop manual and a little trial and error. Lots of online communities exist where you can trade tips and tricks, and local car clubs can also yield lots of advice from friendly fellow enthusiasts.

Benefit 3: You can get your friends involved!

Working on a project car is a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon with your fellow rev-head friends, or even your family and kids if they are old enough. Put on a barbeque and a case of beer, invite a few friends over (after promising them a drive or two once the car is finished) and you can make light work of the most daunting parts of a restore, ie. sanding back paint and patching rust comes immediately to mind.

Stop dreaming and snag your dream muscle car today! Get in quick, before rust and time takes these beautiful machines away forever.

Cheap Muscle Cars For Sale - Now is the Time to Buy

By Arthur Dent
There has never been a better time than now to buy your dream car. With all the concern over global warming and the price of fuel, the amount of cheap muscle cars for sale has increased, with prices dropping like crazy.

Take my own recent experience. Ever since I was a wee lad, I've wanted an Australian XB Falcon Coupe, one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time (It's the car Max drives in 'Mad Max' and 'The Road Warrior'). As a teenager I was desperate to buy one, but back then (13 years ago!) any in decent condition were going for over ten grand, and even then they were as rare as hen's teeth. Add to this my parents were already well and truly sick of having their yard taken up by rusty 'project cars' from my older brothers, who never quite got around to fixing them up. This lead me to spending a paltry 200 bucks on a second hand Japanese buzz box, but the desire for that roaring v8 never left me.

Fast Forward to today. My wife, who is already wary of my tendency to buy project cars and never quite get around to finishing them, is feeling lenient as I have just quit smoking and am looking for something to occupy my time. Satisfied with her smoke free house and now much less smelly husband, she gives me the green light to begin searching out my dream car.

So I start hitting the auctions, online and off, and what I'm seeing is blowing my mind! Muscle cars are ridiculously cheap, compared to even ten years ago. I'm seeing beautiful mustangs going for half what they would have a decade ago, and probably in better condition. The perfectly restored specimens are of course still going for a mint, but those that only need a bit more love and attention to be of showroom quality are drastically cheaper.

My hypothesis is that the due to the cost of fuel and emissions concerns, these beasts are no longer practical for a daily driver. However for guys like me, who want a project to work on, and only drive on the weekend or for showing purposes, there has never been a better time to buy a muscle car for a bargain price.

So my search continues, but with so many other tempting bargains, it's hard to stay focused on the XB... some of those mustangs look mighty nice!

Stop dreaming and snag your dream muscle car today! Get in quick, before rust and time takes these beautiful machines away forever.

Fire Your Mechanic and Save Loads of Money

By Dan Morton
What is one of the biggest expenses you will incur when owning a car? That would be maintaining and repairing your beloved four-wheeled chariot. Do you cringe at the thought of a $600 brake job? How about $450 for a "tune-up?" Even those $45 oil changes add up - you will easily have your oil changed at least twice in a years' driving. That's almost 100 bucks! And don't forget the added benefit of calling around to schedule the work, dropping the car off at the shop, arranging a ride when you are car-less and so on. How about the anxiety of worrying if you're getting taken to the cleaners by an unscrupulous mechanic?

Want to put some of that money back in your own pocket? Then fire your $75 per hour mechanic and get your hands a little dirty! Before you count all of the reasons that you can't do some of this on your own, consider that your gas bill has gone up by over 30% over the past year. Get some of that money back by considering the following.

*

Change the Oil.

Shop charge: $30 - $45, DIY: about $15. Look for coupons in the newspaper - sometimes I can buy oil for as little as $.49 per quart. Plus, most shops will try to sell you things that you don't need (like air filters and wiper blades) or try to sell you higher-priced items than required. Read your owners manual for type of oil and frequency of change (I change my oil around 3,000 to 4,000 miles). Savings: $90 - $120

*

Rotate the Tires.

Most tire stores (if you bought your tires there) will do this for free every 5,000 miles - you don't need to pay extra at another shop while your car is in for other repairs. Savings: $90

*

Replace Air Filters and Wiper Blades.

This is where the oil change places really make a killing - it's incredibly easy and quick to replace these items and they are priced much higher than a discount car-parts store. Again, read your owners manual for replacement frequency, but I'd change out both about once per year. Savings: $40

*

Replace the Brakes.

This job requires some ability, but is not impossible. Can you "borrow" a mechanically-inclined friend for an hour or two? There are tons of great books on the subject, and modern brakes are a snap. Drum brakes on a collector or hot rod are a little more complex, but, again, great books exist and the job is relatively easy. Savings: $400

*

Give Your Car A Tune-Up.

For a modern car, a tune-up is ridiculously simple and rare nowadays - essentially replacing the spark plugs. The easiest way to save money is to just say no when your mechanic tries the hard sell. Read the owners manual to find the frequency, and you may be pleasantly surprised. Most modern cars are designed to go up to 100,000 miles before the first tune-up. You don't need to tune-up your car any more often than is required - unless there is a definite mechanical problem. If your car is older and has a distributor, carburetor and/or points, then you need more frequent tune-ups. Again, get yourself a book and dig in!

The Ultimate Hybrid - The Chevy Volt

By Jason Helferich
At the 2007 North American International Auto Show, General Motors introduced the newest in hybrid technology: the Chevy Volt. Having given up on pure electric cars years ago, this is GM's next attempt to unseat Toyota from its hybrid throne.

The Volt runs off a combination of a lithium-ion battery and a 1.0L turbocharged three cylinder gasoline engine. Convenience is the name of the game with the Volt; the lithium-ion battery can actually be completely recharged by plugging it into an 110V outlet for six hours. This provides the electric motor with a 40-mile charge.

The feature that makes this car stand out is that the gasoline engine never directly powers the wheels. This is different from the current technology. In the Toyota Prius, the car alternates between the electric motor and the gasoline engine to turn the wheels. In the Volt, when the battery charge dissipates, the gasoline engine would recharge the battery. In the end, all motive power comes from the electric motors and battery.

The result of this technology is a vehicle with capabilities for upwards of 150 miles per gallon. However, if the owner fails to charge the Volt overnight, the vehicle would be closer to 60 miles per gallon. The 150-mpg would be based on the following situation: if you have a 60-mile round trip every day to work, 40 of those miles would be powered by just the battery. The remaining 20 miles would be propelled with the gas engine running which runs at 50 mpg. The result is that you travel 60 miles on just 0.4 gallons of gas, averaging 150 mpg.

If flexibility is what you are after, the Volt is also designed with a plethora of engine options. One of the unique features of the Volt is that it features GM's E-Flex System. The E-Flex System allows for flexibility in engine choices. The turbocharged three cylinder can run on gasoline or E85 fuel (85% Ethanol, 15% Gasoline). This engine could also be replaced with a diesel engine or even one that could run on bio-diesel. The last option would be a hydrogen fuel cell.

The Volt also brings something new to the table in that it is a sporty vehicle. The styling of the Prius is not exactly cutting edge; however, the Volt takes it up a notch. With a sleek body and 21-inch wheels, it is sure to spice up the hybrid market.

Nonetheless, the Volt is not something in GM's immediate plans. The idea for the Volt would require that a cost efficient 400-lb lithium-ion battery be found. Lithium-ion batteries of this size are not currently available. Further advances in battery technology would be required to allow GM to consider making the Volt a production car. These are enhancements that could occur in as little as a year, or as many as 20 years. GM has stated that they feel the technology is almost there, yet a vehicle like this is probably about a decade away.

Hats off to GM for developing a hybrid car that many can appreciate. The Volt may be a decade away or maybe even more, but GM is showing their commitment to alternative fueled vehicles with a focus on improved looks and performance.

Remote Starter - Is it For You?

By Jason Helferich
One of the most popular purchases to be made in the automotive aftermarket industry this winter will be remote starters. Remote starters have become increasingly popular every year, with the majority of sales occurring between October and February. Sales peak around the holidays with many people purchasing them for loved ones at Christmas time.

Remote starters allow the owner of a vehicle to start the engine on their vehicle with a wireless remote or key fob. There are many advantages to this, including warming up your car on a cold morning, unlocking the doors on your car, automatically starting your car in extreme cold temperatures to keep the gas and oil from freezing, and even cooling your car down on a hot day. Simply turn on your heater or air conditioning prior to exiting your car, start the car with the remote, and step into an already warm or cold vehicle. Remote starters can be programmed to allow your car to run for a preset amount of time, anywhere from 10-60 minutes. These units can also be set up to unlock the doors on your car, roll down the windows, turn on the defroster, open the sunroof, open the truck, sound the horn, as well as a variety of other features.

There are two main varieties of remote starters: one-way and two-way units. There is one main difference between the two: one-way provides the user with no feedback while two-way provides the user with feedback. One-way units will allow the user to unlock the doors (if so equipped), start the car, as well as perform other optional duties. For the user to know if the car unlocked or started, they have to be able to see the car as the button is being pushed or after it has been pushed to verify that what they attempted to do was successful. Most units will flash the lights upon locking and unlocking as well as either flashing the parking lights or keeping them lit to signify the owner that the vehicle is running with the remote start.

The two-way remote starter uses a remote with an LCD screen or alert lights to inform the user of what is happening. The most popular two-way units use an LCD screen with a digital image of a car. When the user pushes the button to activate the remote start and start the car, the car will provide the user with feedback via the remote to let them know if the car started or not. If the car started, units with an LCD screen will generally show a digital puff of smoke coming from the rear of the car which lets the user know the car is running and the remote start activation was successful. Two-way remotes or key fobs can inform the user if the car is running and also if the car is locked or unlocked.

A popular version of the remote starter is a combination unit that features a car alarm as well. These units will perform all the duties of the standard remote starter, as well as protect your car from break-ins and theft. The two-way remote starter/alarm remotes can provide feedback to the user by visual alerts as well as audible alerts. The remote can alert you if a door has been opened, if the shock sensor has been tripped, or if any other sensor has detected a fault. This is designed to inform the user if someone is attempting to break into their car while they are not around. These units have a variety of service ranges anywhere from 200 feet, up to 6000 feet. That means you can be hundreds or in some cases thousands of feet away and be alerted if your car is being broken into. A new unit even uses a camera mounted in the car and in the event of a break-in, will take a picture of the inside of the car and transmit that picture to the full color two-way LCD remote, so the owner can even see who is breaking into their car.

Remote starters are not something that an amateur installer should attempt to install. These units are increasingly complicated and someone who has never installed one will be pulling his hair out in a few hours. There are a lot of safety and liability issues involved with wiring something so complex into your car and interfacing with increasingly complicated factory wiring and computer systems. Just a small error in probing a wire can cause an airbag to go off, or blow up an engine or body computer, either of which would cost thousands to be repaired. For the nominal installation fee, using your local 12 volt shop is the only way to go. For what would take an inexperienced installer a few days to install, an experienced installer can generally have you back on the road in less than one working day, saving you time, money and headaches.

On vehicles produced from 1995-1996 on up to brand new 2008 models, a variety of additional parts may be required to install your remote starter. Vehicles with a factory immobilizer system will require a bypass module to bypass the immobilizer system during the remote starter activation to allow the remote starter to start the engine. These bypass modules are designed for vehicles that contain a chip in their keys. The bypass module contains the same chip or program as the chip in the key and tricks the vehicle into thinking the key is in the ignition, thus allowing the remote starter to activate and start the car. If your car has an immobilizer system, you will be required to purchase this part, as the remote starter will not work without it. Also, some vehicles need additional modules to activate keyless entry. If you want your unit to roll down your windows this also requires a control module to do this. Many installs also require additional wiring and relays, which can increase the price of the installation depending on your make and model of vehicle. If your car is newer, be prepared to spend extra money for the additional parts that will be required for your remote starter to work on your vehicle. These parts can range from $50 up to $200+ depending on the year, make and model of the vehicle.

Every year there is a unit that will perform something the ones before it could not, including the aforementioned camera alarm. These days, purchasing just a car alarm or just a keyless entry system is not worth your money. For anywhere between $150 to $300 and more, you can have a remote start in addition to your alarm or keyless entry, and it is well worth the extra money. Remote starters continue to grow in popularity, especially in cold-climate areas, and once you have had one on your car, you will never want to go without one!!

Introducing the Pontiac Solstice

By Jason Helferich
The Pontiac Solstice is the latest craze coming out of Detroit. However, it has been hard to find one on the streets as all of the 2006 production is already sold out. I have started to see a few on the roads in recent weeks, but they are still a scarce find. The Solstice is entering into a market that has been dominated by foreign makes for the past 15+ years: the rear wheel drive, two-seater, lightweight convertible. This niche market has been dominated by the Nissan 350Z, Honda S2000 and since the early 1990's, the Mazda Miata.

First introduced at the 2002 North American International Auto Show, the Solstice was a hit from the start. Many enthusiasts were clamoring for General Motors to build this vehicle and to build it quick. GM has delivered on both of those requests, completing the Solstice for retail sale in less than 3 years. Production began on the first 1,000 cars in the summer of 2005. The Solstice is the first car to be built on GM's all new Kappa rear-wheel drive platform.

The fast production was accomplished by robbing the parts bin to build this car. Many parts are shared with other GM vehicles. For instance, the fog lights are shared with the Pontiac Grand Prix, the back-up lights are from the GMC Envoy, the heating and air conditioning controls are from the Hummer H3, the transmission from a Chevy Colorado and the rear axle from a Cadillac CTS. By incorporating these parts into the Solstice, the design team was able to focus more time and money on the heart of the Solstice: the drive train, suspension and exterior.

The Solstice is powered by GM's 2.4L Ecotec four cylinder engine, which delivers 177 horsepower and 166 foot pounds of torque. The four cylinder is efficient for the Solstice but it will not deliver spectacular straight line performance numbers. With 0-60 times just a shade under 7 seconds and quarter mile performance in the mid 15's, it is quick and nimble which is what it is designed to be. For those after mind-blowing speed, there are aftermarket companies installing GM V8's in these cars delivering up to 400 horsepower. This produces much improved straight line performance considering the Solstice only weighs around 3000 pounds with the V8. Quarter mile performance with the V8 is in the mid to high 12 seconds, with 0-60 times in the mid 4 second range... pretty amazing!

Almost the entire underbody and body panels are shaped using hydroforming. Hydroforming is when high-pressure fluid is used to push steel into shapes that are simply not possible with traditional steel stamping processes. It is used in this instance to keep the body shape as close to the prototype as possible. It is not practical for high-volume models as it takes far longer than traditional means. The Solstice, along with the Corvette, are the only GM cars sporting an entirely hydroformed chassis.

The suspension is fully independent and uses Bilstein coil-over mono-tube shocks at all corners. Anti-roll bars in the front and rear enhance the handling of the Solstice. The standard tires are 245/45R18 Goodyear Eagle RSA's, mounted on 18 inch aluminum alloy wheels. The stopping power is provided by large four-wheel disc brakes.

And the kicker of the whole deal is that the Solstice starts at only $19,995, including the destination charge. This can be slightly misleading as this base model does not include air conditioning or anti-lock brakes, two options most everyone will opt for. Those two options push the price to around $21,500. Good luck finding one in 2006 though, as all are sold out and dealers are also charging above sticker for them.

For those desiring better performance, stay tuned in 2007 as the Solstice GXP is set to appear. The GXP will be powered by a 2.0L Ecotec 4 cylinder, GM's first turbocharged Ecotec in the US. The turbocharged 2.0L delivers 260 horsepower and 260 foot pounds of torque, a vast improvement over the naturally aspirated 2.4L Ecotec. Also the GXP will have unique front and rear fascias, a high polish dual outlet exhaust, Stabilitrak vehicle stability system, a 3.73 rear gear ratio and a GXP specific gauge cluster and seat stitching. Pricing on the GXP has not yet been released.

In the end, the Solstice is an incredibly fun car to drive with its sleek styling, great handling and top down appeal which makes it a can't miss. I personally can't wait to test one out on an autocross course, as that is where the Solstice will truly shine. Be prepared to see an influx of these on the roads in the next couple of years with the aftermarket parts offerings increasing each year. It looks like GM has a future success on their hands - great job on their part!

How to Save on Gas - 6 Easy Tips for Increasing Fuel Efficiency

By Bruce Brennan
With gas prices rocketing skyward these days, everybody is scrambling to find ways to increase their fuel efficiency. Luckily, there are several easy things you can do to help save gasoline this summer! I'll be showing you a few tips I've learned over the past few years to keep my tank, and my wallet, as full as possible.

1.

Local Awareness

I know you've done it before, you fill up soon after leaving your house, and halfway to work you realize you could have saved 10 cents per gallon just by waiting a little longer to gas up. If you haven't noticed the pattern, certain areas will consistently have cheaper gas than other areas. This is caused by a number of factors, including population, distance from the interstate, etc. By paying attention to which areas generally have cheaper gas, you can think ahead and plan your stop in the cheapest area that you will be passing through.

2.

Reduce Your Idling Time

Your engine uses less gas when idling than when under load, which is great. Unfortunately, you're getting 0 miles per gallon while you are sitting still with the engine running! I like to turn off my car while waiting in long lines. Perfect examples would be while waiting in line at a drive-thru, waiting for your children after school, waiting to pick someone up, etc. You'd be surprised how much gas you can actually save by not running your engine while sitting.

3.

Ration your A/C Use

In general, it's best to roll your windows down when possible instead of blasting the A/C, in terms of gas mileage. When making short stops, leave your windows slightly cracked open to allow air that heats up to escape from the vehicle until you return. At that point you can simply turn on your A/C until the interior is comfortable, then roll the windows down and enjoy the natural breeze! In hotter areas it may not be feasible to turn the A/C completely off. In this case turn it on high until you are comfortable, then turn it down to the lowest setting to maintain a cool temperature. Keep in mind that fuel efficiency of 4 and 6 cylinder engines suffer more from A/C usage than most V-8's do, as the load is handled better by the more powerful engines.

4.

Slow Down!

It still amazes me when I see people flying down the highway at 90mph, doing nothing but burning money as they do. I know some of us (including myself) tend to have a lead foot, but I challenge you to try going the speed limit, slowly accelerating, and keeping unnecessary passing to a minimum to see how it affects your gas mileage. I was surprised to find that by going 65 instead of 75 on a 4 hour trip, I was able to save over a ¼ of a tank. Accelerate slower from full stops to see much better fuel efficiency. The drive to work shouldn't be like a drag race if you're trying to save gas!

5.

Pay Attention at the Pump

Most gas stations, especially in the Southern portion of the Unites States are now adding Ethanol to the gasoline to reduce smog and combat higher gas prices. Unfortunately, some stations are adding too much, and you aren't getting the fuel efficiency you deserve. I tend to look an Ethanol content of around 10% or less, as that percentage actually increases fuel efficiency by allowing the fuel to burn cleaner. Higher levels of Ethanol with reduce the energy content (the potency, if you will) of the fuel, causing a loss in efficiency.

6.

Consider a Hybrid Vehicle

This is a pretty obvious solution, so there's not much explanation needed. Most hybrid cars these days use electricity while under low power operation, such as reversing, accelerating from a stop, driving under 10mph. etc. Simply by cutting down on fuel usage at these times, hybrid cars are able to see gas mileage in the range of up to 60+ miles per gallon! Obviously not everyone can just go out and buy a new car, but if you have the opportunity to purchase a hybrid, you should definitely consider it if fuel efficiency is an important issue to you.

I know anyone reading this can easily implement 5 out the 6 tips I've outlined, so give it a try and see for yourself! The little things go a LONG way when it comes to keeping money in your pocket and gas in your tank.

If you are REALLY ready to start saving gas, check out http://www.jonascrazy.com to see how I'm squeezing 37mpg out of my 500hp Trans-am daily driver. The best part is, you can do it yourself! I hope these tips have been helpful to you and your family.

Introducing the 2008 Dodge Challenger

By Jason Helferich
In the next few years, the pony car field which has been dominated by the Mustang since 2003 will become more crowded with the release of the new Challenger, followed by the 2009 Camaro. The Mustang has been alone in this field, minus the short lived GTO, since 2003 when the Camaro and Firebird both were discontinued.

Ever since Chrysler announced in 2006 that the Challenger would be coming back, car fans have been salivating waiting for the car to arrive. Fans of the early 70's Challenger remember that car fondly for its great looks and tremendous performance. In a different twist, Chrysler has decided to release the flagship model, the SRT-8 first. Normally, this model would come last, but not this time. There are plans for a 6-cylinder version and RT V-8, most likely the 5.7 Hemi, to follow.

The new Challenger shares many characteristics with the Dodge Charger, with which it shares a very similar chassis. A shorter wheelbase and overall length are the main differences in the two. Suspension wise, the Challenger uses an identical front a-arm and rear multilink suspension as the Charger, but has custom tuned shocks and different rate coil springs to enhance the ride and handling. With this sport-tuned suspension, the car sits slightly lower, but the actual ground clearance is a little higher than the Charger.

The SRT-8 model will sport the same 6.1L Hemi that powers the other SRT-8 vehicles, namely the Cherokee, Charger, Magnum and 300C. A 5-speed automatic transmission with Auto-Stick pilots the Challenger. Power wise, the Challenger puts down 425 horsepower and 420 ft lbs of torque, enough to burn the tires off!! According to Chrysler, the Challenger is capable of 0-60 times in the low five second range and quarter runs in the mid-13s, while the top speed is 160 mph.

Moving at speeds like that, a top-notch braking system is in order and the Challenger delivers on this. Brembo 4-piston brakes come on all four corners with 14.2" rotors up front and 13.8" rotors in the rear. ABS is also standard to aid in the stopping power and enables quick inputs from the driver.

On the exterior, the styling is retro, similar in many ways to the last Challenger of the early 1970s. The car is equipped with a front splitter with integrated cooling ducts for the brakes, adding great looks but also aiding in performance. HID headlights add top of the line lighting to the Challenger. A functional hood scoop rounds out the aerodynamic package on the front end. Out back, the Challenger sports an attractive tail wing to aid in down force on the car, but also for the aesthetic appeal. The Challenger is minus Dodge's trademark crosshairs front grille, but the reasoning is acceptable to us: to retain a similar grille to the original Challenger.

Dodge has been taking orders for the new Challenger since December with an MSRP price of $37,995. Customers ordering the car can choose from black, silver or Hemi orange for their Challenger SRT-8. The 2008 SRT-8 will be a limited run and will include a numbered dash plaque. Love the look of the Challenger but can't afford the $38,000 SRT-8??? Starting next year, the other models will become available, including a V-6 version and a 5.7L RT.

All in all, Dodge has done a great job on the appeal and performance of the new Challenger and looks ready to jump head first back into the pony car field. One thing is for sure, with the Challenger, Mustang and new Camaro for 2009, the horsepower wars may just be beginning!!

Importance Of Fitting In The Appropriate Tires

By Travis K
In recent times many wheel-manufacturing companies have cropped up. Yes there are many companies that have set up a certain standard of quality. But there are some that you have to avoid. If you are looking for wheels for your car, then there are certain points that you have to reflect on.

• Firstly the price of the wheels that you are going to buy.

• Make sure that the wheel that you are going to fit in assures safety to the maximum extent.

• Warranty that the wheel company is providing you with.

• Check the durability of the tires that you are buying.

• Along with the tires you would be buying rims; make sure that it matches the tire performance and appearance.

• Make sure that the wheels you are buying from the company are well renowned for its customer satisfaction. This would mean after sales services.

These are some primary points that you have to note, and if the tire is matching all requirements then you can go ahead and purchase the wheels.

Many people like to modify their vehicles and some go to the extent of fitting tires that do not match the norms required for the vehicle. For e.g. say you own a Honda Civic but you want to fit in the tires of Honda CRV, surely this is not possible. This is not good for your vehicle, as the size of the tire matters. Yes you can modify your vehicle if they adapt to your choice of tires. Your vehicle has been designed with measured proportions. This means that your vehicle performance is based on your tires, so fidgeting with your tires would mean that you are fidgeting with your car performance and safety. This should be avoided.

Wheels play a major role in the safety of travelers in the car. Rigid weather conditions can test your tires performance. If at all your car does not consist of a tire that is non-adaptable to changing conditions then this would mean disaster for the driver and passengers. So make sure that you buy wheels that match all the basic requirements for a safe ride. In my personal opinion it is advisable for you that you fit in tires that were given to you when you first bought the car. This would mean that you are not taking chances.

How To Improve MPG - Simple Steps To Improve Your MPG

By Adam Nicoloff
Even if you don't want to admit it, gas prices are taking a bite out of your wallet. Gasoline prices are setting a new all-time every time we turn around. To compensate, you will need to make a few changes so that you can improve your miles per gallon (mpg) and save yourself some hard earned money. Here are 8 simple steps that you can start practicing today.

1. Properly inflate your tires.

Did you know that driving with tires that aren't fully inflated can cost you 5 -10% more gas than if your tires were filled properly. All you need to do to correct this is check your tire pressure every few times you fill up. Look on the side of your tire for the recommended psi and adjust accordingly. While your doing this, its a good idea to check your tires for excessive wear.

2. Don't put off your oil change

Today with the use of synthetic oil, it isn't necessary to get your oil changed every 3,000 miles. Depending on the type of synthetic oil you use, ask to see what the recommended drive time for that oil is. I would say that if your using synthetic oil, to get it changed between 5,000 and 6,000 miles. Clean oil will reduce friction in your engine and can improve your mpg by about 3 percent.

3. Lose the Lead Foot!!

I know thats its nice to feel like we are all NASCAR drivers every time we get behind the wheel, but that extra speed is really just wasting gas. 55 miles per hour is the optimal speed to improve mpg. For every 5 miles over that, you start using an extra 3 - 4 percent per gallon.

4. Avoid fast stops and starts

You can save a good amount of gas by avoiding fast stops and starts. Come to a slow and steady stop instead of screeching to a stop at traffic lights and then speeding away. Learn to start and stop at a gradual pace.

5. Replace the air filter.

Check your air filter about once a month. If its clogged, its like trying to run your dryer with a clogged lint trap. Having a clean air filter will improve your cars efficiency and improve your mpg. Check your car manual for location of the air filter and directions. Be careful though, every time you get your oil checked it seems like they try to sell you an air filter. Even if it looks dirty, tell them no thanks. Then drive over to Wal-Mart and buy one yourself for about $10 and put it in.

6. Get rid of the crap.

How to improve your mpg? Hmmmm, stop using your car as storage for everything that should be kept in the garage. If your trunk or back seat is full of heavy garbage, you could be costing yourself money at the pumps. Remove the extra cargo that is cluttering your car and keep it to the bare minimum.

7. Regulate your air conditioner.

If you are on the highway, it makes sense to use your AC. The reason is that if you have your windows open on the highway, the increase in drag on your car will cost you more gas then your AC running will. If you driving around town, shut off the AC and open your windows.

8. Buy a HYBRID

I know that this is an extreme example, but the mileage that you can get from a hybrid is unbelievable. With gas prices through the roof, these things are becoming more practical by the day. There are more options out today that will give you great value.

For the most part, saving money on your gasoline expense is common sense and relatively simple to accomplish. These are some simple steps on how to improve mpg.

How To Save Gas Money - Tips On How To Save Gas Money!

Most people don't realize that if their car is not running at peak performance then you are wasting gas and money every time you hit the pump. Your fuel economy could be effected by small problems with the way your car is running and could be costing you valuable gas.

A simple routine check on your car can identify and correct these simple things. This check can help to avoid costly repair bills and cause you to save gas by keeping your car running smoothly. This will also ensure that your car is running as safe as possible, which may prevent an avoidable malfunction that could result in an accident.

This does not mean that you should ignore taking your car in for scheduled maintenance visits or change your oil yourself. These checks are simple and routine things that you can do on your own to help you learn how to save gas money.

1. Do a visual check around the car for any fluid leaks. If you see a liquid pooling under or besides your car when it is parked, you should be able to identify it based on the color. Automatic transmission fluid is pink, oil is black, coolant is a bright greenish yellow, and power steering and brake fluids are clear.

2. You can easily check your tire pressure every time you fill up. Instead of wasting that couple of minutes, by yourself a tire gauge and check your tire pressure. The recommended psi will be listed on the side of the tire. Also look for signs of uneven wear or objects embedded in the tire.

3. Open your hood and take a look around. I know that this may be a daunting experience for some, but what you are looking for is fairly easy to spot. Look for cracked radiator hoses, split spark plug wires or loose clamps and corrosion around the battery terminal.

4. Check all your major fluid levels according to the instructions in the owner manual. These include engine oil, engine coolant level, transmission fluid and power steering fluid.

5. Do a manual check to see if your brakes are balanced. Find a straight, flat stretch of road and lightly rest your hands on the wheel. Then apply the brakes gently and evenly. If your car pulls to one side or the other, that means your brake pads may be unevenly worn or your brakes may need adjustment.

So, if you are sitting at home and wondering "How to save money on gas", these are a few simple steps that if you practice monthly, will help you save some gas money. They will also save you money in the long run by keeping your car running in peak condition and keeping you safe on the road.

Personalised Number Plates - Where Did it all Start?

By Jayne Henry
Somewhere in the early part of the 20th century a revolution occurred and automobiles began to appear on the roads of Britain in significant numbers. While initial uptake was understandably slow, by 1904 there were sufficient numbers for the government to introduce the Motor Car Act of 1903, which legally obliged any car owner to display a car number plate. The fate of the legendary "A1" number plate (first registered to Earl Russell in December 1903) remains shrouded in mystery and many car number plate aficionados see this as the holy grail of private number plates. Whatever its fate, were the "A1" ever to turn up in the public market you can be sure that it would fetch a bob or two.

From January 1st 1904 every motor vehicle used on British roads required a registration number with each local council assigning their own code - London was A, for example. When single letters ran out, two letters were used (although some double-letter combinations were discounted because it was considered they could cause offence, or, as in the case of "ER" already had a designated significance.)

Of course, as the numbers of cars gradually began to increase, so the efficacy of the old numbering system began to decline. By 1932 the system had expanded to include three letters and three numbers - after the Second World War this was changed around to three numbers and then three letters. These plates are still widely available and prices range from a couple of hundred to several thousand depending on the letter/number combination.

By 1963 a totally new system was introduced with a letter allocated for each plate denoting the year of registration (DWS 234 A, for example, with the A denoting the year. Since then August 1st of each year has become the changeover date - and, as you would expect, there is a peak in car purchasing at that time, as people rush to become the first to own a new car.

This demand for the newest plate prompted a growing interest in what became known as personalised number plates - the early plates in particular becoming much sought after, particularly those with "special" numbers or car model numbers.

While dealers had been buying and selling sought after car number plates for many years it wasn't until the DVLA introduced the "Select" scheme in 1989 that buying a special private number plate became more widespread. These days anyone can choose a number plate to suit their name, interests or car model - sometimes for less than £99 - while special number plates can fetch several thousand pounds.

Jayne Henry of Speedy Registrations Ltd - speedyreg.co.uk. Speedy Registrations have been supplying number plates to the public since 1984. Based in Northern Ireland we also specialise in Irish number plates. If I Can Run My Car On Water, Then So Can You!

By Jamie H Jones
If you go headstrong into this conversion without a solid plan laid out, then there is a good chance you may find yourself in a difficult situation or maybe even damage your vehicle, I found it is possible to run my car on water. It can be done by you too, but there are so many conflicting views on the subject that it is difficult to know who to trust and what to do in order to get you started.

Here are a few of my hints for you to think about:

1. You must keep a miles per gallon performance records, and perform maintenance on the system, this is for your benefit and will serve you well in the future to ensure continued success with running your car on water.

2. If you have any worries about the water freezing in your system, you can either:

(a) Add some 98% isopropyl alcohol and re-adjust the pulse frequency accordingly; or

(b) Install some electric heating coils.

Either will work, but shouldn't really be a worry unless you have some air getting into your system

3. If you fail to achieve adequate power with your vehicle after the conversion (at any throttle setting), it means that you need to:

(a) change the pulse frequency

(b) change the gap between the electrodes

(c) change the size (bigger) electrodes... or

(d) make a higher output pulse voltage (last resort).

My last hint for now would be to always strive to use an output transistor, such as a MOSFET, those will be rated for the voltage and current required from it to achieve the correct result.

I stumbled across the information about how to run my car on water totally by accident, but once I had found it I set out to gather all the available details on the subject and didn't rest until I had the big picture and was totally confident in doing so.

Are you excited about what you can learn about how I Run My Car On Water? And How You Can Too?.. There are thousands of resources available and you can get a more in depth detail of the process and a review of some products over at: http://www.squidoo.com/run_car_on_water_works

HHO Conversion Kit - Why you Should Get One

By Nadav Snir
In today's world, the famous HHO conversion kits, also known as water-fuel conversion kits, have become almost a necessity in cars. Those kits produce energy from breaking apart water molecules, so cars don't have to use as much fuel to move from one place to another. This great advantage is the key to the reasons for having an HHO conversion kit.

The main reason for getting your own HHO conversion kit is economical. Oil prices recently passed $120 per barrel, and experts expect it to rise to $200. Those crazy prices lead to a big jump in gasoline prices, with some gas stations even hitting $4 per gallon. Installing a water-fuel conversion kit can greatly reduce your car's fuel consumption and your spending at the pump.

The environment will also benefit from your transfer to water-fuel technology. Cars are the biggest polluters on this planet, and it doesn't seem like a change is coming. When you use a "run your car on water" kit, you cut your fuel usage and also decrease the pollution your car produces. Now this is a double profit - for you and the environment.

Another benefit of joining the club of HHO conversion kit users is a very good mileage. Regular gasoline cars have a mileage of about 20 miles per gallon, and diesel users have some extra MPG. When you use water to run your car, it consumes less fuel but can drive the same distance. This decreased fuel consumption greatly increases your mileage, and so increases your savings.

Visiting the auto shop is not a pleasant experience for anyone. Using a "water for fuel" kit will clean your engine and keep it in good form. This will make sure your engine will service you for many years to come, and it's also a way to save money - this time on visits to the repair shop.

You can get your very own HHO conversion kit along with all its benefits. To find the best kit for you, visit the HHO conversion kit area of Great-Info-Products.com.

About the author:

Nadav Snir is a big car and driving fan. Also researched the field of hydrogen cars and the various HHO conversion kits. You can find more information at his site at http://Great-Info-Products.com/WaterForGas/ytindex.html.

How To Make Brown's Gas

By John Drummond
With today's rising gas prices, it is imperative to find ways to make your car use less gasoline. Since the estimates are that oil prices will continue to rise, perhaps by another 60% or more, the time to make the necessary adjustments to save money is now.

One of the most promising and increasingly popular ways to save money on fuel is to use water or, more accurately, Brown's Gas to run your car. But the question is: how to make Brown's Gas, what exactly is it, and how does it work?

Brown's Gas is known as OxyHydrogen and has the chemical sign of HHO. This is a gas which is made out of water when it undergoes a process of electrolysis (an electrical current for a length of time). This is all a little scientific, but the thing which makes this important is the fact that Brown's Gas has one appealing characteristic: when it burns it releases a great deal of energy. This means that it can be used along side regular gas to make a car run. As Brown's Gas is made out of water, it is infinitely cheaper than regular gasoline, making it a money saving opportunity like no other.

The only thing which stands between you and turning your car into a hybrid, meaning that it runs of fuel and Brown's Gas together, is making some simple adjustments to your car. These will include installing a receptacle for water and connect it to the car's battery which will provide the electric current which is needed to turn that water into Brown's Gas.

You can convert your own car to run on Brown's Gas and save a lot of money in 2 ways:

1. Go to a car shop which does this service. Expect the installment to cost around a $1,000. You may find cheaper places, but I doubt if anyone will do this for you for less than $600. Of course, the advantage is that you don't need to do any work.

2. Buy an installment guide and do the work yourself. This is actually a popular option which many people are going for. For as little as $50-$100 you can find an online step-by-step guide which will lead you through everything you need to know in order to make Brown's Gas yourself and have your car run on it.

Whichever option you choose, making your car run on Brown's Gas is something which is worth considering. It can save you a lot of money each month.

HHO Gas Conversion Kit - Run Your Car On Water With A DIY Hydrogen Generator

By Myla Madson
There are Hydrogen Generator kits being sold on the Internet for hundreds of dollars but why not build your own for $65? It is easy to do, the parts can be found locally and you can have it up and running in a couple of days.

The people selling these kits say that the home built models don't work and actually create dangerous carbon monoxide gas. So, who is telling the truth?

The fact is, a hydrogen generator works off a well known theory called electrolysis. You simply run a current through a set of oppositely charged electrodes submersed in water that pull apart the water molecule to its core components of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom thus creating a burnable fuel known as HHO.

There are different configurations and ways to control the voltage applied, but they all work on the same principle. Ahhh, the lengths to which a person or organization will go to discredit their competition.

One such manufacture of these kits has implied, actually no, has made the bold statement that some of the do it yourself guides lead you to building a device that could kill you. The president of this company said that anyone peddling these guides is an idiot and has not done their research and deserves what they are about to get. (I'm not sure what the implied threat actually means).

Basically this person has put out a statement saying that the hydrogen generator puts out carbon monoxide because it uses baking soda as a catalyst...is this true?

I contacted the president of this company and commented on his bold statements and asked that he send me proof that the system generates dangerous levels of carbon monoxide and of any injuries or deaths associated with these home built hydrogen generators.

After a round of infantile insults, he told me I could ask any high school chemistry teacher about it. He failed to provide me with any credible documentation or statistics of carbon monoxide poisoning.

I have been running my own home built hydrogen generator for sometime now so of course wanted to validate his claims. I have also spoken with hundreds of others who have built and are running their own hydrogen generators and no one has heard of such a thing. I actually had my generator tested by a licensed technician, not a high school chemistry teacher, and the system was found to be very safe and produced no measurable amounts of CO.

I hate that we have had to pay through the nose at the gas pump and have finally found an affordable alternative to cutting our gas bill only to have another corporate honcho, trying to sell a thousand dollar product, resort to scare tactics to once again pry money from our wallets.

I'm certainly going to continue to use my hydrogen generator. With the actual research I've done, If I were to take the advice of this corporate president, I would need to stop cooking, heating my home, driving my car, cutting my grass, lighting a candle, sitting by the campfire and on and on...all of these things actually produce measurable amounts of CO but he chooses to attack a product that cuts into his profits, imagine that.

Of course it is your choice and you should do your own research and not just buy into what this guy is saying. If you are concerned at all you can simply forgo the use the baking soda. Of course you will not generate the same amount of gas but it will still work.

I also contacted the company who puts out the most well known do it yourself guide and has sold thousands of copies and asked him about the CO production. He wrote back to me with well documented support to the contrary and was professional in is response even though I had presented myself to be an angry customer.

He explained the chemistry behind the generator and how ridiculous the claims made by this other person were and that he had the system tested by researchers from Gulf Laboratories and that basically the guy was lying. I was satisfied with his explanation.

Want to build one yourself? Of course you do! I have a guide at my website that will show you, step by step how to make this hydrogen generator. It's freakin awesome and the government can't do anything about it! Got to http://MylaMadson.com/hybrid

Gas Mileage Devices - What Works and What Doesn't!

By Bruce Brennan
With gas prices raising the roof, there are some devices and modifications you can implement that will increase your fuel efficiency and improve your gas mileage. Some of the gas mileage devices on the market work great, and others are flat out scams. I'm going to show you some of the most popular offerings and tell you which work and which are a waste of money.

1.

The Electric Supercharger (Fail)

The electric supercharger is designed behind the idea of forced induction modifications such as belt driven superchargers or the popular turbocharger which is powered using exhaust flow. While the idea is great in theory, I have yet to see one with a motor capable of pushing air near as fast as the engine is already consuming it. In other words, these tend to actually SLOW down the flow of air into the engine which can not only cause worse fuel economy, it can also damage your engine by causing a rich fuel to air ratio! Dyno tests on a 1998 S-10 V6 indicated a 7hp LOSS and an average loss of 3mpg.

2.

Vortex Generators (Poor)

Here is a product which I have actually had marginal success with. The "Turbonator" and similar knock-off products basically cause a spinning motion in your air intake hose, which in most cases allows the air to travel faster to the intake manifold. They are easy to install, and they do work to a certain degree, but in my tests I've noticed a maximum increase of 3 horsepower and no noticeable difference in gas mileage on average, which is far under the projected results. Because it's so quick and easy to install, I tested this on 5 different vehicles with similar results from each.

3.

Performance Chips (Good)

There are several Performance Chips available which can not only add horsepower to your vehicle, but also improve gas mileage. These work best with high performance gasoline engines and diesel engines. I have nothing bad to say about the performance chips, other than that they can be quite pricey and generally will require installation and dyno-tuning by a professional performance shop, which itself can be quite pricey. That being said, they DO work. Horsepower increase is the most noticeable with these, but they average around 3-5mpg increase.

4.

Magnetic Fuel Conditioners (Fail)

These inexpensive devices can be had for around $10, and will do absolutely nothing for your gas mileage. You'd be much better off putting that $10 into your gas tank. This is an extremely tiny gadget that you basically zip-tie to your fuel line and you should magically get better fuel efficiency. The idea is that perfectly placed neodymium magnets will align the fuel molecules, and "supercharge" or "ionize" them. Scientifically speaking, that makes no sense! Feel free to try if you're curious, but these get a thumbs down from Bruce!

5.

Mass Air Flow Module (Fail)

There's not really a common name for these, but they are usually a very small box with a couple wires available on various spots on the net for $5-$15. The basic idea is that you will plug this into your Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor or Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor, and it will fool your cars computer into thinking that the air coming into the engine is colder than it actually is. This is done using nothing but a resistor that you can buy at Radio Shack for less than a dollar, and that's it! It DOES work in the sense that it fools your computer, but it doesn't improve gas mileage OR power output from widespread testing. Don't fall for this one like my buddy did!

6.

Hydrogen Cells/Water Cells (Excellent)

Why Excellent? Most people are reporting results of 20-45% increases in fuel efficiency. These work by splitting water into "HHO Gas" which is basically Hydrogen and Oxygen separated from each other. The only drawback is that there aren't really any production units available. Most HHO enthusiasts built their own setups. Fortunately it's not terribly complicated and it can be done at a fairly reasonable cost. There are some great plans available that show you exactly how to set this up for your car. I've also personally tested this setup and was able to nearly double my highway fuel economy and tripled my city MPG's!

I hope my review of the various Gas Mileage Devices has helped you shy away from some bad deals out there on the internet and beyond.

For more information on the Water cell/HHO setup I'm using on my Trans-am, you can check out http://www.jonascrazy.com

Leather Repair - Color Matching Your Leather Dyes

By Michael N Warren
Color Matching is a huge skill and a must in the leather repair industry. I've been coming across a few vehicles lately that have been dyed with not so good color matching. Knowing that it's usually someone either color blind or just down right...well I won't go that far, but if the color isn't right then your repair will look worse then if you had just left it alone.

Good lighting does help and pretty much a necessity. Natural lighting is better but in the garages we get stuck in the winter months it doesn't help much, but what do you do, you improvise as my wife says. I use a dent light, which works pretty good, but I have also have used a under the hood light bar then hooking inside the car that stretches the width of the car and hooks on the door jams, they work great. Shorter light bar are great for light in a small places. Be careful with using florescence they sometimes throw your tinting off, if you can get some natural light to your project then great. The customer sees the the car in natural light mostly anyways so your color needs to be spot on.

Test a spot with a dab of leather dye on your finger, wipe a spot in the area to be repaired, dry it, and if it disappears, bingo. Otherwise tint it.

Most of the colors we encounter in todays cars are tans, grays, blacks of course, some blues, burgundy, not many reds, but I have seen on Mustangs red bolsters, whites in some, and in the custom world, Wow look out. A lot of tricks I would love to learn in doing real custom work like custom airbrushing in the interiors of vehicles, anyways..

The colors I use the most in my leather repair dyes are Black, White, Yellow oxide, Red oxide, and Brown. I also use on occasion Green, Blue, and Purple, rarely Yellow and Red, Silver and Gold for metallics with Pearl white to offset the side tones, and growing everyday, with the growing automotive industry. Colors and more colors, fun, fun, fun...

Of course white and black make gray, and brown and white make tan, so, add a little black to go grayer with tan or darker with both, white to lighten, yellow oxide or red oxide to richen the color or to give the yellow or red tints you see in todays autos, brown works good sometimes but the browns seem to be on the red side, if it's too red add green to tone it down. BMWs have a blueish tint to their dyes add a little blue or purple to the grays, Dodge add a little red oxide to the dye to give a reddish tone, Infinity's light tan has just a hint of green to it, Chevy's have a little bit more of a yellow-brown look to them in the darker dashes adding a little yellow oxide gives you that tone. Ford has a pretty true grey with a little yellow oxide though in some cases even add a little brown, this is for both the dark and light. Ford trucks tan has kinda a pink look to it, in some older models, add red oxide but they do have a lot of yellow to them too. Cadillac is pretty easy white and brown with a hint of yellow oxide and a bit if black, just a little though. With black tone it down for a duller look with a little bit of white, add your duller and you have flat black sometimes a little brown too for and older Dodge steering wheel but eliminate the duller save that for like BMW dash pieces. Dodge light gray seats add a little purple. Whew..that wore me out. You get the picture I hope, colors are just one of those things either you get it or you don't.

Just test each time you add a color and look at it and see what color it's missing. I use my pigments sometimes to get there a little faster. If it looks like it needs a color...add it a little at a time and dab another spot, dry it, then check again. You want it to disappear. If it does then your ready to go. Add your flex, cross-linker, strain your paint with a paper paint strainer into the cup and spray away with your leather dyes on you leather repair. If I left something out and your having problems with a color let me know maybe I can help you figure it out.

I've never really sat down and counted the amount of cars that I have done in my 10 years in the automotive reconditioning business so theres been a lot of colors fly in front of my face, the only one that has ever kicked my butt was teal, wow I spent all day when I first started on a boat seat that was teal, holy crap, that was back when I used the lacquer based systems, bad move, I had to give up. With the water based it is so much better. I found with the water based mix that green, blue and a touch of white, I got it, I think I added a little yellow too, I try not to do to many teals, that color and me just don't get along.

Thats kinda the way I look at it when I go to mixing colors, which I do all by eye, God help me if I go color blind. I just look at the work and see the colors. It's pretty cool. Each and every car is different no matter if they are the same identical vehicles, each one as been exposed to completely different elements. Every color is different I promise you, premixed dyes are fine to get you there quicker, but check a spot first before you go hog wild and just start dyeing. So tint your dyes, tweak them until they disappear. The color wheel does help, I find myself every once in a while having a brain fart and can't get a color right so I pull out the old stand by, if it's the color your trying to get rid of use it's opposite to get rid of it. Look on the wheel and the color on the opposite side of the wheel, thats it's opposite. I know that's not the correct word for that but it sounds good. But I never start my repair until my color matching is right. If you don't think you can match it, don't do it. The customer will respect you more for your honesty. If your color doesn't match then the ending result won't be perfect, and that's what the customer wants is perfection in leather repair, or any repair...Right.

Make sure to apply your conditioner after your repair is done on your leather repairs. It will make your ending result look and feel better. Top coat all your repairs with a clear topcoat, it only adds more resistance to the wear and tear and abuse that the vehicles will encounter instead of just the dye.

If you have anything to add to this article I would love to hear from you, these tips can be used with all your color matching needs not just dyeing leather. So please jump on board and lets help all the techs out there and lend a helping hand so that we can ALL get one more step closer to perfection in our leather and vinyl repairs, plastic repairs, velour repairs, and carpet dyeing.

Learn How To Save Money At The Gas Pump - HHO Gas Browns Gas Car Kit

By Obediah Marsh
With the price of fuel reaching record highs every day, you are probably looking to learn how to save money at the gas pump. If you are like me I tried all kinds of additives, which was a waste of money, all I got for extra mileage was not even worth mention.

I am going to let you in on a old forgotten secret that I came across when trying all of these different things, it's called HHO gas browns gas car kit. This is a system that you build yourself, the parts only cost about $75 - $100 at your local hardware store. The system uses water for energy, that's right I said water, it uses the energy from your vehicle's battery to separate the water which gives you HHO gas for a browns gas car, wonderful free power to run your car.

Now once you have the HHO gas system installed in your vehicle, you will notice hat your vehicle will be running a lot quieter and smoother. You will be getting rid of the emissions that damage your health and the health of your family. Because when the browns gas is burned it turns the HHO gas right back into water. There are no harmful chemicals that are emitted from the system. Since your engine would take less fuel and burn it more completely, the overall effect is dramatic reduction in harmful emissions.

Now that I let you in on this secret on how to save money at the pump, this means that you could double your overall mileage, just imagine if you fill up once a week, after the HHO gas browns gas car kit is installed you will only have to fill up about every other week. That is a lot of money in your pocket no someone else's.

Are you ready to laugh at rising fuel prices? Are you interested in building you own browns gas car kit? We have created a review site for the best Water Fuel Conversions Guides on the market.

How To Make Your Own Car Hydrogen Generator And Run Your Car With Water

By Judd Marshall

Do you want to learn more about how hydrogen can be generated on demand to run a car? Scientists had already discovered many years ago that water is a renewable and powerful source of energy. With the rapid rise of gas prices, water fuel technology is becoming more and more popular recently. This discovery however, has never been released to the public.

1. Why Is Hydrogen Car Technology Ever Released?

It is mainly due to political reasons. The demand for fuel will decrease significantly if everyone knew how to run their cars with water, and this would eventually cause a huge shift in world politics. Also, these inventions were believed to be ahead of their time.

2. Fox Network's Video Report on Cars Running On Water

Fox News had also released a video report of a man who used hydrogen fuel to power his car, and he is still doing it. This technology has spread across the world, and today thousands of drivers are running their cars with a mixture of water and gasoline.

3. What Are The Benefits Of Running A Car On Hydrogen?

Water is very beneficial when used as a fuel source because it can decrease the harmful effects of pollution. When hydrogen is extracted and combusted for energy, it burns more efficiently and cleanly than regular gasoline. I have also seen a 50% increase in fuel economy and improved gas mileage. There have been reports of drivers who increased their mileage by 75% to 100.

4. How Can You Start To Run Your Car On Water?

There are step by step online converter guides being sold on the internet that teach anyone how they can build this hydrogen fuel system from their homes. I am very satisfied by the conversion guide I used as it is well detailed.

You will need to purchase some items like cables and tubes if you do not have them already. This system should cost no more than $150 to build, and does not modify the physical structure of your car's engine or the car computer.

Are you sick of expensive gas prices, and you want to run your car with hydrogen? Read the author's review of the Best DIY Water Car Guides on the internet at http://www.review-best.com/water-powered-car-guides.htm and run your car with water today!

Review - Convert Your Car To Run On Water For Gas! Hydrogen Fuel, Better Gas Mileage, Cheaper Bills

By Norb Czufis
If you thought it wasn't possible - you know - to be able to convert water to gas... .. you were wrong! It's MORE than just a theory, it's more than just a myth! It's something that has been proven time and time again - it has patents, it has plans to expand, but it also has a major roadblock (no pun). The auto and oil industries would have a hay day if this got huge... .. Imagine how many BILLIONS are at stake?!

So what the heck is it? This HHO application? Well - technically it's nothing more than a physics conversion with easily attainable elements from any hardware store really. It's a full and complete guide exposing how you can successfully use water, filters, and electricity to turn H20 into HHO (2 parts hydrogen) - and THIS is what your car burns instead of just gas... .. Sounds easy right? Not really. Most people think that it will just be a snap on piece for their gas tank and be able to just dump water into it. Nope - Though that COULD be the wave of the future, who knows right?

This conversion is actually broken down into more than one method, and there are different patents brewing for a few similar formulas - the first rat to win THIS race - is in for a serious financial boost that's for sure... so I can see why so many products like these are starting to pop up! Not only would you probably win the nobel piece prize, and every other award known to man, but you could potentially be held responsible for saving our planet!

Anyway, so now that there are a few of these products out there - the average person is now equipped with enough detailed step by steps instructions for these conversions, and there is enough live technical support that it's no wonder these systems are getting so much attention. I mean - who wouldn't want cheaper gas prices? Longer mileage per tank? Reduce/reuse/recycle your water and gas consumption... yeah, it's a win win!

So how DOES the average person manage to get their hands on one of these systems? And which one should they trust? There are only a few that 'really' stand out - and if you've already been doing your research then you'll probably hear the two names quite often over the months and years to come. I don't want to spoil it for you though - this is important! These people are creating wonderful movements in order to help the environment, and if nothing else - I feel their efforts should be rewarded even if you don't end up going through the actual conversion right away...

Analysis: 100% real and possible, perhaps a little bit of hard work, some tweaking, and some TLC will help though...

The best next step for you would be to do a proper review of the top 2-3 of these systems. One of the better review sites out there for these products is at: http://www.watergasforcars.com

These two sites reviewed offer amazing support to all who purchase, and actually help you with your conversion if you get stuck by phone and email. Make it a Gas Free Day (no pfffun)

10 Cars That Shook The World In 2007

By Yana Mikheeva
These cars are not abstract "lineup cars", but specific examples that became heroes of different stories in previous year - sometimes funny, sometimes tragic. Well, here is a top 10 cars that went down in history in 2007.

Handicraft Ferrari

Now people forge not only works of art, but also cars. Expensive, status ones. For example, unknown skilled craftsmen from Pontiac factory managed to produce... an infringing Ferrari.

Fake is so careful and convincing, that only police experts could distinguish it from the original, they noticed that fabric did not issued a car with such vehicle identification number.

Police is searching for masters and they will surely have to appear in court, although, Ferrari leadership should better find them and offer work.

Producer's Maybatch

Previous year Moscow was literally seized with a wave of most expensive and respectable car hijacking. Bentley and Maybatch were among hijacked ones.

In the end of November police managed to find a hijacked Maybatch and returned it to its rightful owner! Detectives also found out 6 of 11 hijacked Bentley.

Lamborghini

Super car Lamborghini Reventon priced at 1,48 million dollars that is assembled at a very-small edition according to individual orders was not included in the list of top 10 most expensive cars sold in 2007. So, those who are expecting ordered cars, but do not want making a show of their incomes, can even throw dust in eyes of a tax officer. I say my car is not the most expensive one...

Mercedes

In the moment when Russian soccer team's destiny was hanging by a thread, owner of "Spartak" team promised presenting Croatian team 4 Mercedes cars - in case it defeats UK team and helps Russia out in a final part of Euro-2008.

Well, Croats really defeated England! They did it at Wembley stadium! However, all-Croatian soccer federation is going either presenting Mercedes autos to charity, or refusing from them at all....

Qashqai line

Previous year literally all Russian representative offices of foreign companies-manufacturers underestimated growth of car demand. Result - lines for new models.

Nissan Qashqai put us in shock: one and half year! Really, one should have an inexhaustible reserve of patience or want driving exactly Qashqai, to stand such a line...

Ferrari suicides

An owner of classic Ferrari Testarossa 512 TR decided to test his car's abilities, was not able to make it and run into a bank's wall in a suburb of Madrid. Ferrari is beyond repair.

Koenigsegg

Swiss company Koenigsegg assemb;ed the first super car in the world which engine works on ... biofuel! At the same time new Koenigsegg CCXR Special Edition makes 1018 hp, 100 km acceleration from rest for 2.9 and gathers speed up to more than 400 kmh!

However, ecologists should not be too glad for Swedes and cite the novelty as an example to other manufacturers: , CCXR Special Edition does not correspond to new ecologic norms, Euro-5.

Pensioner's Lincoln

What to do, if you need to change a wheel, and one of nuts cannot be unscrewd? The simplest thing is borrowing an alligator wrench from your neighbors' garage. However, a 66 y.o. American man decided to make with improvised means, he just had no alligator wrench.

But he had a... shot-gun. Persistent pensioner shot from it at that nut. History does not tell about the nut, but we know for sure a craftsman shot himself finally: shot ricocheted from a wheel, came to his feet, belly area and chin. He should be wiser and step aside little farer...

Champion's Volvo

Volvo's P1800 1966 odometer showed 4.2 million kilometers for 41 years of persistent exploitation. In 1998 this car was already included in Guinness Book of Records, as a car with the biggest mileage in the world (2,57 million kilometers), however, its owner thinks the sky is the limit. He intends to reach a 5-million mileage by 2012, after this moment he is not going to drive anymore.

Thief's concrete mixer

The shortest chase took place in Germany. A 55 y.o. house-builder, who ran a concrete mixer, grow hungry very much and came to a superstore. Taking a cheese pack from a shelf, he decided not to pay for it and went to an exit busily, where security guard stopped him.

However, a thief broke loose from his grip and ran outside, trying to escape on his concrete mixer. Police caught him up near closest light signal already. What is interesting, the whole thing arose from 2,79 Euro...

So You're In The Market For A Body Kit?

By Jason Helferich
Have you ever walked out to get in your new car and just felt like it is missing something? Do you feel like it looks too much like every other model on the road? This is the first sign that a body kit may be just what you need.

Types of Body Kits

Body kits come in all kinds of styles, materials and qualities. There are basically three styles of kits you can choose from; a lip kit, a bumper replacement kit or a wide body kit.

A lip kit consists of a lip you attach to your front bumper, a side skirt for each side and a lip for the rear bumper. These kits completely attach to the factory bumper and are normally the best fitting kits available. The downfall of a lip kit is that it is a more subtle change and for some people, may not deliver the dramatic difference they are looking for.

The second style of body kit is the bumper replacement kit. A bumper replacement kit uses completely new front and rear bumpers to alter the appearance of the car, in addition to side skirts for each side. Bumper replacement kits provide a much more dramatic styling change than the lip kit. The downside of a bumper replacement kit is the fitment of the pieces. These parts are not molded on a factory bumper so many times, these parts do not fit the vehicle correctly without major body work.

Lastly, the most costly and most dramatic styling change is achieved with a wide body kit. These kits typically include a replacement front bumper, replacement rear bumper, custom side skirts, new front fenders and rear fender flares. Many wide body kits require excessive bodywork or fiberglassing to get a correct fitment. Vehicles with a wide body kit exhibit the most dramatic styling change of all three styles.

Materials of Body Kits

Most body kits are made of either fiberglass or urethane. Both types have their benefits and pitfalls. Urethane has become more popular in recent years, but there are still plenty of kits that are made of fiberglass. There are also other types of kits available that are almost a blend of two, sometimes referred to as "poly-fiber" or something similar.

In the early days, most body kits were made of fiberglass. There are a number of reasons for this: easier to design and manufacture, easier to repair if damaged, easier to paint, etc. It is far easier to have a mold made for a fiberglass piece than a urethane. This is the reason many kits are still made of fiberglass. Also, if you run into a curb, it is easier to repair a fiberglass bumper than it is a urethane. Most body shops are capable of repairing a fiberglass bumper, but not all can fix a urethane piece. Lastly, fiberglass kits are typically easier to paint; many urethane pieces can develop fish eyes in the paint if not prepped properly.

Urethane bumpers are far more flexible and impact resistant. All OEM bumpers today are made of urethane. Most major body kit manufacturers also use urethane bumpers because it is more forgiving of impacts and holds up much better than fiberglass. With it being more forgiving, you are able to bump a parking curb and not significantly damage your car, whereas a fiberglass bumper would more than likely break or crack. These kits are also much easier to install as they can be flexed and manipulated to get a better fitment.

Things to look for

There are a number of things you should look for when purchasing a kit.

1. The quality of the kit

Quality is the single most important thing to look for. This is hard to tell just from looking at a website. If you know someone with a kit from the same manufacturer, check out the kit. There are so many low quality kits on the Internet today, and a vast majority of the kits out there in the market fit into this category. There really are very few high quality kits available. Some of the name brands on the market include Razzi, 3D Carbon, Kaminari, Cervini's, Buddy Club 2, Extreme Dimensions and Erebuni. Chances are if someone is trying to sell you a Terminator, Banshee or Aggressor kit, it is fiberglass and not very good quality. Buying from one of the above names does not guarantee a perfect fitment, but chances are it will be better than the imported knockoffs.

If you the roll the dice and buy one of these kits, what you are going to run into, more than likely, is a poor fitting kit. You might have side skirts that don't fit or a front bumper that overlaps your headlight and doesn't line up with your hood when it is closed. Most body shops or custom shops can make these kits work, but they will require extensive work, sometimes even having to be cut apart and re-fiberglassed back together. Basically if you buy a $300 kit, be prepared to spend $3000 to make it fit your car. If you buy a higher quality kit, the fitment of the kit should be much cheaper and easier to perform.

2. Shipping Costs:

There are a large percentage of body kits on the market that come in enormous boxes and command high shipping rates to get them from one spot to another. When you start pricing kits, make sure you factor in the shipping. Most full bumper replacement kits have to be shipped via truck freight and costs can rise as high as $200. The price is normally cheaper if you ship to a commercial address, so if you have any way to do so, it might save you as much as $50. This is due to the fact that a semi truck delivers truck freight items and it is harder for them to maneuver and park in residential areas, therefore they charge a premium to do so.

3. Overall Cost:

If you want to purchase a body kit, be prepared to spend some money or you might be in for a rude awakening. Most kits with shipping, paint and install are going to cost between $1500 and $5000. You can actually save money by buying a higher quality kit and saving on the install time. Here's how......

Cheap fiberglass kit

Cost of Kit with shipping: $400

Cost to fit kit to car: $1500 (30 hours at $50 per hour)

Cost to paint: $700 (Avg. Price)

Total Cost: $2200

Name brand Urethane kit

Cost of Kit with shipping: $750

Cost to fit to car: $250 (5 hours at $50 per hour)

Cost to paint: $800

Total Cost: $1800

By looking at the above numbers you can see that it might be best, cost wise, to go with a higher quality urethane kit. Urethane kits are more flexible and this makes them easier to install, as they can be flexed to go where the installer wants them to go. Fiberglass kits are far less forgiving and cannot be flexed or tweaked.

Another alternative to look at is factory body kits. You can be assured that any kit sold at a dealer will be a direct replacement for your parts. Another thing you can consider is if there is a higher end model of your car that has a different look than your car but uses the same chassis. For example, if you have a 2003 Dodge Neon and want it to look like an SRT-4 don't buy a knockoff aftermarket body kit for it, buy the factory bumpers off the SRT-4, they will bolt right onto your car.

I recently worked with a guy with a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer who wrecked his car and since it needed a new front bumper, he decided to get an EVO 9 style kit. He made the mistake of buying a cheap kit online that needed extensive work to fit his car because he figured it would be better to have the full kit and not just the bumpers. He ended up spending over $3500 for the kit including painting and installing it. The front and rear bumpers from an EVO 9 could have been had for much less and would have been a direct bolt on. Hopefully he learned his lesson on this one.

These are the main things to look out for when purchasing a body kit. Taking a gamble and buying a cheap kit may not be the best for your car or your pocketbook. Be sure to keep that in the back of your mind as you shop. You might save a few bucks on the kit, but chances are you will spend that savings and much more to make it work on your car!
