The Reality of Traffic Jams

A new study shows that Traffic Jams move backwards in clumps at about 20 miles per hour, the wave of backed up cars moves in reverse of the direction of travel. And it does not matter if there is an obstacle or an accident and everyone is slowing down to look or rubber-necking. This is contrary to popular belief, although it goes against conventional wisdom. There have been various studiers of traffic for instance a few scientists at Battelle Corporation who had suspected this by watching their data of real time traffic flows, but now it has been proven.

Traffic jams are a natural occurrence and a wave within the flow of traffic that is omnipresent. It happens even when vehicles are equal distance apart and traveling at the same direction. Soon, we may learn that even robotic vehicles are subject to this phenomena. Traffic jams in the transportation sector and on our highways and byways cannot be escaped. So if you drive a car, eventually you will be in a traffic jam, no matter where you are.

Traffic jams are real and they are really here to stay, so you may as well grab your blue tooth cell phone head set, your iPod or your favorite CD and stop complaining. Use the time wisely, because you will spend considerable hours in rush hour traffic or even when things are running along fine, they will slow to a crawl for no reason at all. This is something you will just have to deal with, along with those $4.00 per gallon gasoline prices.
