There has never been a better time than now to buy your dream car. With all the concern over global warming and the price of fuel, the amount of cheap muscle cars for sale has increased, with prices dropping like crazy.
Take my own recent experience. Ever since I was a wee lad, I've wanted an Australian XB Falcon Coupe, one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time (It's the car Max drives in 'Mad Max' and 'The Road Warrior'). As a teenager I was desperate to buy one, but back then (13 years ago!) any in decent condition were going for over ten grand, and even then they were as rare as hen's teeth. Add to this my parents were already well and truly sick of having their yard taken up by rusty 'project cars' from my older brothers, who never quite got around to fixing them up. This lead me to spending a paltry 200 bucks on a second hand Japanese buzz box, but the desire for that roaring v8 never left me.
Fast Forward to today. My wife, who is already wary of my tendency to buy project cars and never quite get around to finishing them, is feeling lenient as I have just quit smoking and am looking for something to occupy my time. Satisfied with her smoke free house and now much less smelly husband, she gives me the green light to begin searching out my dream car.
So I start hitting the auctions, online and off, and what I'm seeing is blowing my mind! Muscle cars are ridiculously cheap, compared to even ten years ago. I'm seeing beautiful mustangs going for half what they would have a decade ago, and probably in better condition. The perfectly restored specimens are of course still going for a mint, but those that only need a bit more love and attention to be of showroom quality are drastically cheaper.
My hypothesis is that the due to the cost of fuel and emissions concerns, these beasts are no longer practical for a daily driver. However for guys like me, who want a project to work on, and only drive on the weekend or for showing purposes, there has never been a better time to buy a muscle car for a bargain price.
So my search continues, but with so many other tempting bargains, it's hard to stay focused on the XB... some of those mustangs look mighty nice!
Stop dreaming and snag your dream muscle car today! Get in quick, before rust and time takes these beautiful machines away forever.
